These team names are the Minnesota Frost, Boston Fleet, Toronto Sceptres, Victoire de Montreal, New York Sirens, and Ottawa Charge. News of the team names had been teased, but were revealed on Monday.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>PWHL Team Names Unveiled<\/h2>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">(Re)introducing the inaugural six, as you&#8217;ve never seen them before:<\/p>\n<p>Boston Fleet<br \/>\nMinnesota Frost<br \/>\nVictoire de Montreal<br \/>\nNew York Sirens<br \/>\nOttawa Charge<br \/>\nToronto Sceptres <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oMTyeTbecL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/oMTyeTbecL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 PWHL (@thepwhlofficial) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thepwhlofficial\/status\/1833126788534292522?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 9, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the PWHL\u2019s <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.thepwhl.com\/en\/pwhl-unveils-all-six-team-identities-ahead-of-second-season\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, each team name represents something about their respective cities, team culture, and the legacy of hockey. The league&#8217;s teams went without names for the inaugural season. However, that changes for season two. There was some delay in the names coming out, but they&#8217;re here, now.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe unveiling of these new team identities marks a significant milestone for the entire PWHL community,\u201d said Amy Scheer, PWHL Senior Vice President of Business Operations to the PWHL. \u201cOver the inaugural season, we rigorously developed the most authentic team brands for each city. The PWHL has united the professional women\u2019s hockey community, and we are excited for these new identities to deepen the connection between the teams and their local communities. We want these to become symbols that our players and fans alike can rally behind as we move forward in this new chapter of our journey.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jerseys will be released in late October or early November. All teams will retain their primary colours from last season while introducing additional secondary colours.<\/p>\n<p>A schedule has yet to be released. However, there&#8217;s anticipation the season <a  href=\"https:\/\/ca.sports.yahoo.com\/news\/cp-newsalert-pwhl-reveals-names-125231195.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will start before the New Year.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>What Each Name Represents<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: all information is from the <\/span><\/i><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.thepwhl.com\/en\/pwhl-unveils-all-six-team-identities-ahead-of-second-season\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PWHL<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boston Fleet:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The name represents the city\u2019s maritime history. It features an anchor and a dark green colour. The angle of the \u201cB\u201d is tilted forward to symbolize the team&#8217;s forward momentum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/07\/16\/pwhl-minnesota-drama-continues\/\" target=\"_self\">Minnesota<\/a> Frost: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The name \u201cfrost\u201d pays homage to Minnesota&#8217;s winter temperatures, and the team will keep its deep purple colour. Minnesota is defending Walter Cup champion.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toronto Sceptres:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pulling inspiration from being called \u201cQueen City,\u201d using the symbol of a sceptre as an image of strength and power. The logo has an intersecting T and S to showcase the identity of the team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Victoire de <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/07\/09\/pwhl-montreal-mikayla-grant-mentis\/\" target=\"_self\">Montreal<\/a>:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The name was chosen to embody Montreal\u2019s competitive spirit and consistent pursuit of achievement. The wings on the logo are meant to allude to the goddess of victory. The hidden \u201cM\u201d is a tribute to the city, and has a fleur-de-lis, the symbol of Quebec.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/06\/13\/sarah-fillier-taken-first-overall-in-2024-pwhl-draft-to-new-york\/\" target=\"_self\">New York<\/a> Sirens:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The name choice is supposed to embody the hustle and bustle of New York City, all its sights and sounds and the people who live there, and the sound of a goal horn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ottawa Charge:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The inspiration for the name came from the Ottawa city motto\u2013 \u201cAdvance- Ottawa\u2013 En Vant.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur teams were so proud to represent their home markets last season, and as we launch Season Two, we\u2019re elevating that pride with new identities that truly embody the spirit of each club,\u201d said Jayna Hefford, PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations in the press release. \u201cThese new names and logos capture the dynamic energy of our athletes and enhance our teams\u2019 presence in their cities, building a stronger foundation for the future of our league.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Main photo by: John E.
