However, it has been his worst season in the AHL in a long time. He last recorded below a .900 SV% in 2014-2015 with the Springfield Falcons, where he was sent down to the ECHL before leaving to play in Sweden for two seasons.

What This Means

Although he may not get too many NHL starts, it solidifies someone in the net for San Diego. It also provides them with a third-string they can rely on in case one of Eithetr Dostal or Gibson goes down. Dansk being on a two-way deal makes it easy for the Ducks to bring him up and send him down when needed.

Dansk last played in the NHL with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2020-2021 for one game and got shelled for four goals against. He would spend the rest of the season with the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL.

Could This Impact The Ducks?

This is a pretty low-risk move. However, it uses up a contract on a goalie instead of bringing in more consistent scoring and forwards.

But the biggest thing this addresses is the ‘what if?’ in case they lose one of two starters. It also adds a solid number-one option for San Diego, considering that Dostal, the Gulls’ starter last year, will most likely be the full-time starter at the NHL level.

MAIN PHOTO: BRANDON MAGPANTAY/ Special to The Desert Sun / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Anaheim Ducks have bolstered their goaltending depth for this upcoming season by signing Oscar Dansk to a one-year, two-way deal.
