The details of the contract is that it is a two-year deal with an annual average cap hit of $1.7 million. The contract gives Zamula the confidence that his development is going well. When Yegor Zamula was 18, despite being undrafted, the Flyers signed him to his entry-level contract (ELC). However, with him taking a couple years developing, it didn’t expire until this season. Moreover, Zamula made his professional debut in 2020-21. That season he played 25 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, as well as a pair of games with the big club. After mostly suiting up for the Phantoms the next two seasons, this past season, 2023-24, he finally got regular NHL ice time. He appeared in 66 games for the Flyers. Throughout his career to his point, for the Flyers he has played 92 games, with five goals and 20 assists for 25 points, along with 38 penalty minutes. He has a career ice time average of 15:42 in those games.

What Does the Move Mean for the Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers were competitive in 2023-24 (until they weren’t). Regardless, Daniel Briere has been tasked with identifying those players who contributed to his team’s success. Also, building towards the future. Zamula is 23 years old, and seems to be coming into his own an NHL defenceman. The Flyers haven’t made a lot of noise this offseason, but want to round out their roster. In contrast, they did add one exciting piece, signing Matvei Michkov to his ELC. Given the club’s success last year, making small moves might be enough to keep them competitive.

Main photo credit: Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Flyers and General Manager Daniel Briere have news to announce on this Sunday, that they have re-signed Yegor Zamula to a contract.
