But identifying quality, young players, that want to play for your team, never goes out of style. This signing is a strong move by GM Conroy. It shows his commitment to players that play well for the club, regardless of what stage the club is currently going through. Sharangovich had only come over to the club in the 2023 NHL offseason. The Flames had traded Tyler Toffoli to the New Jersey Devils in that transaction. At this point, it appears the trade is paying off, considering what the future has in store for Sharangovich.

What Does Sharangovich Bring to the Club

The Yegor Sharangovich contract extension comes on the heels of a decent season for the Flame pivot. Statistically, he had his best output by a bit of a margin too. Goals (31), assists (28), points (59), shots (179), shooting percentage, time on ice, you get the idea, were all career-highs for the 26-year-old, with four NHL seasons under his belt. This contract sees him through the prime of his career. Furthermore, what this money shows, is that he is expected to be a huge part of the Flames organization over the duration of the deal. In addition, if he can continue to build on his individual game, and be insulated with some strong forwards around him, this deal has the potential to really pay dividends for Conroy and the entirety of the Flames organization.

Main photo credit: Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames General Manager Craig Conroy has rewarded one of his talented forwards with a new deal.
