He has put up 70 goals and 62 assists for 132 career points in 406 career games. He originally signed his entry-level contract on May 31st, 2013 and made his debut on October 3rd, 2013.

So far this season the 30-year-old has scored six goals and 12 assists for 18 points. He’s also added 28 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 45.1 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -5.

Raffl career high in goals came in 2014-2015 when he put the puck in the back of the net 21 times. 2014-2015 was just one of three seasons he has scored double-digit goals. Raffl has continuously been a 20 plus point season guy for the Flyers. The only season that he didn’t reach 20 points it when he only played in 52 games in 2016-2017.

What This Means For The Flyers

By re-signing Raffl the Flyers sure up their bottom two lines and check off one thing from their off-season to-do list. Not only did Philadelphia prevent him from hitting the free agent market, but they also did so while getting him for a lower price. Raffl was making 2.3 million dollars a year the past three years on his old contract.

On his new deal, he will be making 1.6 million dollars a year. Even though this was not a flashy re-signing for the Flyers, it was a necessary one and a smart financial one. The Flyers will look to keep adding to their team this offseason. The goal is to find themselves back in a playoff spot after a disappointing season. There is no doubt Michael Raffl shares that goal with the Flyers team.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Philadelphia Flyers signed left-winger Michael Raffl to a 2-year contract extension worth $1.6 million per season.
