Chychrun Traded to the Capitals\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Ottawa Senators are an intriguing team. They have their youthful core locked up for the foreseeable future and are aiming to build towards the playoffs. However, opting to ship off Chychrun signals they are rolling with what they have and capitalizing on a return for an expiring contract. <\/span><\/p>\n

Chychrun excels and both ends of the ice and is coming off a strong season. In all 82 games this season, Chychrun scored 14 goals and 41 points. Also, he was able to chip in on the power play<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Chychrun can log big minutes and play on the top two pairs. This is a major grab for the (enter team), but also a good return for the Senators in the long run. <\/span><\/p>\n

Also, Jensen is a solid depth defenceman and will be a great boost to the back end. If Chychrun wasn\u2019t inclined to signing a long term deal, moving on from him made sense. The core unit of the team is locked in, so they are in good shape moving forward. However, capitalizing on the return allows them to build forward and have this young team take bigger strides. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the Capitals\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

This is a major addition for the team. Chychrun makes them deeper on the blue line and gives the coach options. He can play on both sides of the ice, which is an extra bonus. Furthermore, he can help strengthen the power play and is not shy to offensive production. Chychrun is unafraid to shoot the puck and is a big presence on the ice. This is a great deal and a huge upgrade despite what they had to part with. <\/span><\/p>\n
