He stayed in New York overnight and will see a specialist in Detroit.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Detroit F Jacob de la Rose left the game at MSG tonight early because of an accelerated heartbeat. He was taken to a local hospital, where he&#39;ll spend the night. He is expected to return to Detroit tomorrow to see a specialist. A member of Detroit&#39;s medical staff is with him.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dan Rosen (@drosennhl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/drosennhl\/status\/1108190333110812672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 20, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>Jacob de la Rose Hospitalized<\/h2>\n<p>The training staff alerted Red Wings coach <strong>Jeff Blashill<\/strong> to the issue during the second period of their 3-2 victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/rangers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Rangers<\/a>. Trainers tried getting de la Rose&#8217;s heart rate down before the team took the ice for the third period, but could not do that.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish centre has three goals and six assists for nine points in 60 games this season. He also has 16 penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 43.6 percent Corsi\u00a0and a relative Corsi of -4.9.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old has played for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> and the Detroit Red Wings in his five-year NHL career. He has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 career points in 179 career games. Montreal originally drafted de la Rose in the second round, 34th overall of the 2013 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time that de la Rose has experienced a cardiac episode. He left the final pre-season game of the season against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> due to a heart issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t say it&#8217;s the exact same,&#8221; Blashill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/redwings\/news\/wings-de-la-rose-sent-to-hospital-with-accelerated-heart-rate\/c-305951094\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said after the game<\/a>. &#8220;I know that was the issue he had there. Was it caused by the same reasons? Was it exactly the same? I can&#8217;t say. Both were, from my understanding, accelerated heart rates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>What This Means for the Future<\/h2>\n<p>De la Rose got a chance to be the top-line centre for Detroit with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/larkidy01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dylan Larkin<\/a><\/strong> being out of the lineup. He assisted on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/athanan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andreas Athanasiou<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s goal in the second period. Normally, de la Rose has been playing on the bottom-six as a depth forward.
