Today’s rumours stay in the Atlantic Division, focusing on the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.

NHL Rumours

Boston Bruins

Rumours: David Pagnotta from the Fourth Period discusses the Bruins engaging with a defenceman

If you haven’t heard by now, the Bruins are looking for a defenceman. The team is currently without Hampus Lindholm, who is out week to week and also Matt Grzelcyk who is day to day. The Bruins have Mason Lohrei in the fold, who is coming off a monster three point night against the Oilers earlier this week. However, as we advance down the stretch the Bruins could look for reinforcements to bolster the blue line.

The latest buzz surrounds Noah Hanifin, who Don Sweeney has heavily coveted since his draft year. Although, the team could engage in Flyers defenceman Sean Walker.

Walker would fit the mould that the Bruins like to play. He is not the biggest point producer but can chip in offensively. One thing he excels as the most is being physical and blocking shots. He would be a nice boost and upgrade on the back end, as the team could use a shutdown presence. Walker is a right handed shot defenceman and the team really needs a boost on the left side. Of course you can maneuver things around and Walker would be a great add. The price tag could be high, which also will complicate things for Sweeney.

Ottawa Senators

Rumour: David Pagnotta from the Fourth Period discusses the future of Josh Norris in Ottawa

The next set of NHL Rumours keeps us in the Atlantic Division. While the Bruins are going to be a playoff team, the Ottawa Senators are not. They are not shopping current centre Josh Norris but they are taking phone calls. Norris still has term on his contract, making him a player that you can build around and add to your core group.

Things have not gone well for the Senators this season as a whole but they have been playing better hockey as of late. The core group is set in stone for the foreseeable future but the team could capitalize on a hefty return. There is the event the team could pull off a hockey type of trade to upgrade positions that are needed, which is what Pagnotta believes.

There will be some form of change and additions to get this club to the next level. While it may not happen, Norris is worth monitoring.

Main Photo: Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumours!
