Welcome to another edition of NHL Rumours! There is a lot going on in the hockey world with numerous storylines making waves. The Florida Panthers may have dodged a bullet with their star centre but there is trouble in Columbus with one of their own. However, today\u2019s rumours focus on the Global Series and the Minnesota Wild. <\/span><\/p>\n

NHL Rumours<\/span><\/h2>\n

Global Games<\/span><\/h3>\n

Rumour: Chris Johnston on Insider Trading discusses the Global Games<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The global games are a special treat not just for the fans but for the players. This year was a major hit, as the league stormed off to Sweden. The Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Minnesota Wild got to compete in the event. <\/span><\/p>\n

It was special the entire time, as longtime Senator Daniel Alfredsson<\/a> got to step behind the bench and coach his old team. Furthermore, Williams Nylander was a big hit sensation getting to play in his native country. The fans loved it and so did he. Comments were made by star centre Auston Matthews<\/a> that turns the attention to where the next location could be. <\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview he mentioned he would love to see the Global Games take the event<\/a> to Mexico City. This has the league taking a turn and visiting what that could look like. <\/span><\/p>\n

Matthews\u2019 mother has that background and Matthews would love to represent hockey there. For Matthews to be able to play there would be huge for the league and for him to have that experience. Johnston also mentions that the Dallas Stars have been open to playing there and with them being in Texas that would be huge. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Global Series is a special thing every season and being able to go to Mexico City could be huge for the league and the fans. <\/span><\/p>\n

Minnesota Wild<\/span><\/h3>\n

Rumour: Chris Johnston from Insider Trading discusses changes for the Minnesota Wild <\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The decision to buyout Ryan Suter<\/a> and Zach Parise<\/a> has managed to catch up with the team. Billy Guerin has minimal amounts of money to make changes to the roster but could changes come behind the bench?<\/span><\/p>\n

Johnston suggests that changes coming from behind the bench are not likely. In a competitive Central Division, the Wild are lagging behind. They\u2019ve managed to lose five games in a row and are on a rough skid. Also, they have a combined -14 goals saved above expected<\/a>, so the goaltending has mkt been stellar. Dean Evason<\/a> deserves a share of the blame but the roster has not been great performance wise. This is why Johnston suggests it\u2019s up to the players to right the ship not a coach. <\/span><\/p>\n

A coach can only do so much and take a team so far. It is up to the players to play. Matt Boldy<\/a> has one goal on the season and Kirill Kaprizov<\/a> has five. The star players that have been key to success have been underperforming. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is more on the players than the coaches and a new voice isn\u2019t going to help right the ship. Changes could come but not at this particular time unless something drastic happens. <\/span><\/p>\n
