Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today\u2019s featured game is the New York Islanders<\/a> vs Vancouver Canucks<\/a>.\u00a0Be sure to check out more NHL predictions in the coming days.<\/p>\n

NHL Predictions<\/h2>\n

Philadelphia Flyers vs Carolina Hurricanes<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Flyers 0-1 Hurricanes<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> TNT; Max<\/p>\n

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> taking on the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>. Carter Hart<\/a> is the current projected starter, but always check social media<\/a> before locking in a fantasy starter. The Flyers have two straight wins and have shown some promise with a younger squad. Travis Konecny<\/a> leads in goals in nine and Travis Sanheim<\/a> has 12 assists for the Flyers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pyotr Kochetkov<\/a><\/span> is the current penciled in starter for the Hurricanes, who have won three of their last five games. Teuvo Teravainen<\/a> leads the Canes in goals with nine while Brady Skjei<\/a> is tops in assists with 10. Carolina can score goals, but needs to tighten things up a bit at the back.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Flyers have been solid, but the Hurricanes scratch out the win.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Hurricanes win 4-3.<\/em><\/p>\n

Seattle Kraken vs Edmonton Oilers<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Kraken 0-1 Oilers<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> Root Sports Northwest; Sportsnet<\/p>\n

The Seattle Kraken<\/a> look to even up the season-series against the Edmonton Oilers.<\/a> Seattle has lost four of its last five and goal-scoring has been a problem for the team. Philipp Grubauer<\/a><\/span> is the expected starter for the Kraken. Jaden Schwartz<\/a><\/span> has been one of the bright spots for the team with eight goals this season.<\/p>\n

Edmonton is in game two of the Kris Knoblauch era after beating New York, 4-1, in the last outing. Leon Draisaitl<\/a> awoke for a goal and three assists in the last game and Connor McDavid<\/a> got himself back in the scoring column. Stuart Skinner<\/a> will likely draw the start for the Oilers.<\/p>\n

The Oilers feel like they can ride the new coach bounce to another win.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Oilers win 5-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anaheim Ducks vs Colorado Avalanche<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Ducks 0-0 Avalanche<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> Altitude; Bally Sports So Cal; Bally Sports San Diego<\/p>\n

The Anaheim Ducks<\/a> take on the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in this first of three meetings this season. Anaheim has been a pleasant surprise with a 9-6 record. Lukas Dostal<\/a><\/span> is likely to get the call in between the pipes for the Ducks. Anaheim has won three of its last five games. Frank Vatrano<\/a> is off to a surprising start with 11 goals this campaign.<\/p>\n

Colorado will likely counter with Alexandar Georgiev<\/a><\/span> in the crease. The Avs bounced back with a 5-1 win over the Kraken to stop a small losing streak. Colorado has 10 goals from Mikko Rantanen<\/a> to lead the way and Cale Makar<\/a> has 14 assists to lead in that category.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anaheim comes in with better form, but Colorado takes advantage of the home ice.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-3 in a shootout.<\/em><\/p>\n

New York Islanders vs Vancouver Canucks<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Islanders 0-0 Canucks<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> TNT; Max; Sportsnet Pacific<\/p>\n

Our final and featured game has Bo Horvat<\/a> coming back to town to face his old club for the first time. Ilya Sorokin<\/a> is the projected starter for the Isles, who have lost five straight. New York has struggled to score goals and that means Sorokin has to almost be perfect. Brock Nelson<\/a> leads the team with six goals from the Isles.<\/p>\n

Thatcher Demko<\/a> is likely to get the start for the Canucks, who has wins in four of his last five games. Quinn Hughes<\/a> has five goals and 18 assists while Brock Boeser<\/a> has 12 goals for Vancouver. The team is first in goals for and third in goals allowed as Rick Tocchet<\/a> has made an instant impression.<\/span><\/p>\n

Horvat will likely get a point, but the Canucks will rule the day.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Canucks win 4-1.<\/em><\/p>\n
