The St.Louis Blues<\/a> announced that winger Pat Maroon<\/a><\/strong> avoided serious injury in what was a scary-looking incident in practice yesterday. Maroon is not expected to miss any time.<\/p>\n

Pat Maroon<\/a>\u00a0Avoids Serious Injury<\/h1>\n

Maroon was hurt during practice on Monday morning and was helped off the ice by two teammates. It was reported in the post-practice press conference that the injury to Maroon didn’t look serious.<\/p>\n

So far this season,\u00a0Maroon has scored five goals and 14\u00a0assists for 19 points to go along with 52 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 52 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of +1.1.<\/p>\n

Over his eight-year NHL career, Maroon has played for the Anaheim\u00a0Ducks<\/a>,\u00a0Edmonton Oilers<\/a>, New Jersey Devils<\/a>, and St. Louis Blues. He has 83 goals and 114 assists for 197 career points in 435 career games. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> in the sixth round, 161st overall in the 2007 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

What This Means for the Future<\/h2>\n

Pat Maroon<\/a>‘s absence\u00a0from the Blues line-up would have been a big loss for them as they are already without\u00a0Vladimir Tarasenko<\/a><\/strong>. Maroon has been finding his groove over the last month. Since February\u00a012th, Maroon has recorded five points and his Corsi-For rating is 54.25 percent. These numbers are fifth best among Blues forwards over this time. The St. Louis native provides a physical presence\u00a0on the second line for the Blues and has been getting time on the Blues second power-play unit. Maroon’s scoring numbers have been down compared to the prior seasons which is due to playing\u00a0in more of a depth role this season.<\/p>\n

Forward David Perron<\/a><\/strong> who has been out since mid-January took Marron’s spot on the second line once Marron left practice. Perron has recorded 17 goals and 18 assists in 45 games so far this season. The Blues have reported that Perron is still day-to-day.<\/p>\n
