Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Calgary Flames vs Detroit Red Wings<\/h3>\n

Our featured game of this light slate of NHL predictions has the Flames looking to bounce back against the Red Wings. Calgary lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a> in its last outing. Jacob Markstorm is the expected starter for the Flames, but always check social media<\/a> before locking in a fantasy starter. Calgary has spreading around the scoring this season with a number of different scorers.<\/p>\n

Detroit is coming off a big win over the Ottawa Senators<\/a> on Saturday. Joe Veleno<\/a> scored twice for the Red Wings in the victory. James Reimer<\/a> is the confirmed starter for Detroit, which may finally be able to put it all together. Alex DeBrincat<\/a> didn’t have point against his old team, but is the team’s leading scorer.<\/p>\n

Back-to-back games are always tough to gauge and Calgary has that extra rest.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Flames win 4-3 in a shootout.<\/em><\/p>\n

Boston Bruins vs Anaheim Ducks<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Bruins 0-0 Ducks<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> NESN; NHL Network; Bally Sports San Diego; BS So. Calif.<\/p>\n

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Boston Bruins<\/a> continuing their western swing at the Anaheim Ducks.<\/a> Linus Ullmark<\/a> will get the call after Jeremy Swayman<\/a> started the night before against the Los Angeles Kings<\/a>. The Bruins haven’t given up more than two goals in any of their first four games this season. David Pastrnak<\/a> has five goals this season and also leads in assists with three.<\/p>\n

John Gibson<\/a> will get the call in goal after Lukas Dostal<\/a> started the night before against the Arizona Coyotes.<\/a> Jamie Drysdale<\/a> was held out of last game against the Coyotes and Brock McGinn<\/a> is on injured reserve. The Ducks have lost two straight and the offence has struggled in those games.<\/p>\n

Boston has been off to a great start and it should continue that against a shaky Anaheim.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Bruins win 4-1.<\/em><\/p>\n
