Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today\u2019s featured game is the Carolina Hurricanes vs Colorado Avalanche. NHL Predictions<\/h2>\n

Carolina Hurricanes vs Colorado Avalanche<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Hurricanes 0-0 Avalanche<\/h4>\n

Our featured game of the late Saturday NHL predictions has a pair of disasters. However, these teams are far from a calamity on ice. Carolina likely goes with Pyotr Kochetkov due to the injury to Frederik Andersen. Seth Jarvis has four goals while Brady Skjei has handed out five assists so far this campaign. The Hurricanes is tops in goals for with 23 going into Saturday’s games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexandar Georgiev is the projected starter, but always check social media<\/a> before locking in your fantasy starter. Colorado is one of three Western Conference teams are unbeaten so far this young season. Mikko Rantanen leads the club in goals (3) and assists (4) in the early portion of this campaign. Georgiev has been in goal for all four of the Colorado victories this season and has a 0.98 goals-against-average.<\/span><\/p>\n

This could be a possible Stanley Cup Final preview. Colorado seems to be further along and gets the OT win.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Avalanche win 3-2 in overtime.<\/em><\/p>\n

Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Jets 0-0 Oilers<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> CBC<\/p>\n

This late game on Hockey Night in Canada has the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Edmonton Oilers. Winnipeg has been dealing with attendance issues as well as a defence that’s given up at least four goals a game in its first four games. Connor Hellebuyck will likely draw the start for the Jets. Alex Iafallo leads in goals while Josh Morrissey has four assists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Edmonton is trying to keep its season on the rails, but defence and goaltending have also been issues. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid continue to shoulder the load on offence for the Oilers, but need some help from the back end. Edmonton’s power play is still top five and can punish teams. Stuart Skinner is the likely starter for the Oilers.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s early in the season, but this screams like a must-have for both teams. The Oilers win a wild one.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Oilers win 5-4.<\/em><\/p>\n

New York Rangers vs Seattle Kraken<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Rangers 0-0 Kraken<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> MSG; Root Sports Northwest<\/p>\n

The New York Rangers laid a massive egg versus the Nashville Predators. Igor Shesterkin is the probable starter and looking to put the bad game behind him. Chris Kreider has four goals already and has been a menace on the power play. Mika Zibanejad doesn’t have a goal, but has five assists so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philipp Grubauer is the expected starter for the Seattle Kraken, who finally got into the win column. Jared McCann leads the team in goals with two while Vince Dunn has four assists. The Kraken finally got some goal-scoring in their last outing.<\/p>\n

New York is a good team when coming off a loss the last couple of years and will start the western trip with a victory.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Rangers win 4-1.<\/em><\/p>\n

Boston Bruins vs Los Angeles Kings<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Bruins 0-0 Kings<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> NESN; Bally Sports West<\/p>\n

Our final in-depth game in our NHL predictions has the Boston Bruins taking on the Los Angeles Kings. Jeremy Swayman is the projected starter for the B’s. Boston is the only unbeaten Eastern Conference team. David Pastrnak is looking to earn that mega contract extension and has four goals this campaign.<\/p>\n

Cam Talbot is the likely start for the Kings, who have turned up the goals in the early season. The Kings have scored at least five goals in their last three games. Trevor Moore also has four goals so far in this campaign. Kevin Fiala may not have a goal, but has six assists early in the season.<\/p>\n

Boston’s defence will keep it in the game and get a key road win.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Bruins win 3-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Minnesota Wild<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Blue Jackets 0-0 Wild<\/h4>\n

Prediction: Wild win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

San Jose Sharks vs Nashville Predators<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Sharks 0-0 Predators<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> NBC Sports California; Bally Sports South<\/p>\n

Prediction: Predators win 5-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Penguins vs St Louis Blues<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Penguins 0-0 Blues<\/h4>\n

TV:<\/strong> Bally Sports Midwest; Sportsnet Pittsburgh<\/p>\n

Prediction: Penguins win 4-1.<\/em><\/p>\n
