He was on the receiving end of a hit from Golden Knights’ forward Ryan Reaves. He was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, 25th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

What This Means for the Future

Technically, Cogliano’s ironman streak came to an end last year as he missed the first two games of career due to suspension. However, this is the true end to the streak. He has never missed a game due to injury. Had he not been suspended, Cogliano would currently be sitting in second in most consecutive games played, just behind Doug Jarvis.

Cogliano was playing in place of Jamie Benn on the Stars second-line, with Benn currently nursing an upper-body injury of his own. Benn’s status as of now is up in the air for Thursday’s game as well.

If Benn can’t return to the lineup, expect Joel L’Esperance to draw into the lineup. L’Esperance was called up on Wednesday from Dallas’ AHL affiliate Texas Stars. In 50 games in the AHL this season, L’Esperance has scored 29 goals and added 15 assists for 44 points.
