Karlsson, who is already experiencing health issues in the past weeks, reinjured his groin. The Swedish defenceman went down the tunnel immediately after an incident in the second period. He returned for a few minutes, but didn&#8217;t start the third period. Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer didn&#8217;t\u00a0want to offer further comments on Karlsson&#8217;s injury.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/karlser01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Karlsson<\/a> in a lot of pain.<\/p>\n<p>He missed Sunday&#8217;s game due to a groin injury. During a rush from Boston&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcavoch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie McAvoy<\/a>,<\/strong> Karlsson seemingly re-injured his groin. The Bruins eventually won the game, 4-1. The last Bruins goal in the game came shorthanded when <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Marchand<\/a> <\/strong>easily got by Karlsson.<\/p>\n<p>The Norris Trophy winner is in his first season with the Sharks after the trade from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> last September. The 28-year-old defenceman has recorded 45 points in 52 games played with the Sharks over the current campaign. San Jose should be concerned with his injury problems as the playoffs near.<\/p>\n<h3>What Does That Mean For The Future<\/h3>\n<p>The Sharks are presently five points behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames<\/a>, who lead the Western Conference and the Pacific Division. San Jose is second with 82 points and the third-placed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/knights\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Golden Knights<\/a> are 11 points behind them in the divisional race. The Sharks have no pressure whatsoever\u00a0to rush their star defenceman to come back anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well sure, any time somebody gets hurt there\u2019s regret, but I really don\u2019t know \u2014 same injury? Different injury? I have no idea what we\u2019re dealing with yet. I can\u2019t even make that call,&#8221; DeBoer said after the game.
