Besides netting a first round pick, the Rangers received young forward <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lemiebr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brendan Lemieux<\/a><\/strong> in the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While his career numbers may not point to much, and most don\u2019t point to him being much more than a bottom-six forward, Lemieux has been one of the most efficient scorers in the league, and an expanded role could lead to a breakout.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Brendan Lemieux: Scoring At Every Level<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breaking onto a good team can be hard for a young player. The 22-year old Lemieux found this out the hard way during his time with the Jets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/sabres-acquire-evander-kane-from-jets-in-trade\/c-752865\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">being a part<\/a> of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/myersty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Myers<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kaneev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evander Kane<\/a><\/strong> trade, Lemieux finally broke into the NHL last season, He scored one goal in nine games played with Winnipeg. Before that he was the 31st overall pick by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sabres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Sabres.<\/a> Lemieux has been a goal-scorer wherever he has gone, He netted 40 goals twice in the OHL and then notched another 19 in 51 games his last season in the AHL.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Scoring Efficiency<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding playing time with the Jets was hard for Lemieux. Having such a deep team that went to the conference finals the year before, he rarely saw any time on the power play. That limited prime opportunities to score for him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All together, Lemieux averages 7:25 TOI\/game, That&#8217;s a typical number for a fourth-line winger that doesn\u2019t contribute to either special team units.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/video\/embed\/lemieux-powers-to-net-and-scores\/t-277350912\/c-65084203?q=brendan+lemieux?autostart=false\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the low amount playing time, Lemieux has managed to score nine goals in 44 games played. He also has the highest shooting percentage of any forward that meet the same criteria. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In true power forward fashion, Lemieux ranks 15th in hits-per-60 minutes as well. In fact, of all the forwards in the top-50 in scoring rate, only <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wagneau01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austin Wagner<\/a> <\/strong>comes close to Lemieux\u2019s Hits\/60 mark.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fitting in with the Rangers<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York is going through a semi-rebuild, making Lemieux a perfect fit. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fastje01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesper Fast<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kreidch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Kreider<\/a> <\/strong>are the two \u2018oldest\u2019 forwards on the roster at just 27-years old. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It won\u2019t be any easier breaking into the lineup, even on a team that is rebuilding, as the Rangers are stacked with young players fighting for playing time.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/video\/embed\/practice-brendan-lemieux-22619\/t-277350912\/c-66275303?q=brendan+lemieux?autostart=false\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the Rangers are in need of some goal-scorers. They currently rank near the bottom of the league in goals-per-game (21st), and lost two of their top-six goal scorers at the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trade deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kreider and<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zibanmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mika Zibanejad<\/a> <\/strong>are on their way to 30-goal seasons, but the drop-off after that gets steep quick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if all Lemieux gets is more time on the bottom-six, he has shown the ability to make the absolute best out of every opportunity he gets.
