Gudas and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kucheni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikita Kucherov<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>engaged in a stick\u00a0battle near the\u00a0boards. After becoming untangled, Gudas slashed Kucherov in the head with his stick. He received\u00a0a minor penalty for high-sticking on the play.<\/p>\n<p>So far this season, he scored two goals and 11 assists for 13 points. He also added 49 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 51.3 percent Corsi\u00a0and a relative Corsi of 2.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Over his 7-year NHL career, Gudas has played for the Lightning and Flyers. He has put up 22 goals and 76 assists for 97 career points in 396 career games. He was drafted in the third round, 66th overall of the 2010 NHL draft by the Lightning.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What This Means For The Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is Gudas&#8217; first suspension since December 2017. He had been suspended 10 games for a similar incident involving <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/nhl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_self\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/perrema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mathieu Perreault<\/a><\/strong>. Gudas slashed the forward in the back of the head.<\/p>\n<p>Gudas had since cleaned up his play, though, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2019\/01\/25\/radko-gudas-peforming-well-for-philadelphia-flyers\/\" target=\"_self\">has been one<\/a> of the team&#8217;s most\u00a0consistent defensemen this season. His name has swirled around in trade talks, as well. The two-game suspension will allow him to come back before the trade deadline on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>With Gudas suspended the next two games, expect <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/myersph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philippe Myers<\/a><\/strong> to draw into the lineup.
