The 28-year-old forward has played in 72 career Stanley Cup Playoff games recording nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in those games.

This season, he has scored 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points, adding eight minutes in penalties in 48 games. His possession numbers are 48.5 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of +0.7. Those totals are better compared to last season, where he scored five goals, and nine assists for 14 points in just 29 games played. Over his nine-year NHL career, Johansson has played for the Washington Capitals and the New Jersey Devils. In that time, he has 119 goals and 212 assists for 331 career points in 578 career games. He was originally drafted 24th overall of the 2009 NHL draft by the Caps.

What This Means for the Future

Johansson will be UFA at the end of the season and will likely be a rental for his new club. The Devils are having a rough season and a playoff berth is unlikely for them this year so they decided to get a return for Johansson instead of possibly losing him in free agency.
