He was then placed on injured reserve before the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

So far this season Eberle has recorded seven goals and 10 assists in 35 games.

Over his career, he has scored 197 goals and added 261 assists for 458 points in 623 games.

Eberle was acquired by the Islanders on June 22nd, 2017 in a trade which sent centre Ryan Strome to the Edmonton Oilers.

Eberle was originally drafted by the Oilers in the first round, 22nd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Opportunity Rises for Dal Colle

With Eberle out and currently without a timetable for a return, Michael Dal Colle gets a huge opportunity to show he’s ready for a full-time position in the NHL. Dal Colle was originally drafted by the Islanders in the first round, fifth overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft but has yet to live up to the hype.

However, Dal Colle is currently enjoying a breakout season in the AHL. He has registered 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points in 28 games for Bridgeport this season. He’s hoping to be able to provide that same offensive firepower to the Islanders line up and stay with the club long-term.

Dal Colle has played three games with the Islanders this season, registering one assist. That assist came on Saturday night on what would prove to be the game-winner against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dal Colle fed Valtteri Filppula in the neutral zone and Filppula split the Leafs defenders and ripped one past Garret Sparks. The Islanders went on to win the game 4-0.

The Islanders next game will be in Buffalo against the Sabres on Monday night.

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The New York Islanders Jordan Eberle takes a face off against the Philadelphia Flyers Sean Courterier.
