No timeline on his return.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Vancouver Canucks (@Canucks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Canucks\/status\/1075497386301042689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 19, 2018<\/a><\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Stecher was injured during Tuesday night&#8217;s matchup with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> on a hit from <strong><span class=\"needsclick tipso_style\" data-type=\"player\" data-seo-id=\"danick-martel\" data-processed=\"true\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marteda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Danick Martel<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0The league announced Wednesday that Martel will not face supplemental discipline for the\u00a0high hit.<\/p>\n<p>Martel&#8217;s shoulder appeared to make contact with the head of Stecher, who was bent over attempting to play the puck at the blueline in the second period.<\/p>\n<p>Stecher left the game and didn\u2019t return after the hit, while Martel was given a two-minute minor for interference.<\/p>\n<h2>What this means<\/h2>\n<p>Stecher has 12 points in 36 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks. He is averaging just\u00a0over 17 minutes per game this season. This injury is yet another blow to the Canucks blueline, just one day after prospect <strong>Olli Juolevi<\/strong> underwent knee surgery. Stecher has played sheltered minutes, but his possession game has been strong. He is currently posting a 49.6 percent Corsi-For, with a +4.9 relative Corsi.<\/p>\n<p>The Canucks cannot really afford to lose what\u00a0they already have. They have shown strides of the good things to come in their future, but the reality hits home hard that they are still in a rebuild.\u00a0 The team is currently in sixth place in the Pacific Division with 36 points in 37 games.
