The Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>\u00a0pulled winger Micheal Ferland<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from last night’s game during the first period. He was returning from a concussion<\/a>\u00a0and reportedly suffered either a setback or other minor injury related to his time off the ice. It is unclear when Ferland will be ready to return.<\/p>\n

May not be a setback. Could be something minor resulting from 10 days away. However, fact he was pulled because he didn\u2019t feel well is noteworthy for me. https:\/\/t.co\/qSkwFBOM11<\/a><\/p>\n

Micheal Ferland Injured<\/h1>\n

Micheal Ferland left his first game back from a concussion in the first period after apparently not feeling 100%. It’s possible that he is still experiencing concussion-like symptoms. This is his second career concussion, his first one occurred in 2014 and caused him to miss eight games.<\/p>\n

So far this season, Ferland has scored 11 goals and four assists for 15 points to go along with 13 minutes in penalties in 25 games. His possession numbers were 54.8 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of -3.3.<\/p>\n

Over his five-year NHL career, Ferland\u00a0has played for the Calgary Flames<\/a>\u00a0and Carolina Hurricanes. He has 53\u00a0goals and 51 assists for 104\u00a0career points in 275\u00a0career NHL games. He was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fifth\u00a0round, 133rd\u00a0overall in the 2010\u00a0NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

What This Means for the Future<\/h2>\n

It’s been a rough week for the Canes as earlier this week they also lost Jordan Staal<\/a><\/strong> to a concussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ferland has been a huge part of the Canes offence this year leading the team in goals as while as leading the team with 82 hits on the year. Ferland gives the Canes some depth playing on the third line alongside Clark Bishop<\/a><\/strong> and Brock McGinn<\/a><\/strong>. Victor Rask<\/a><\/strong> will likely take Ferland’s spot on the third line during his absence.<\/p>\n
