He has a slight MCL strain.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Detroit Red Wings&#8217; Justin Abdelkader Out 2-4 Weeks<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The injury to Abdelkader comes at a bad time as the Red Wings hit the road this weekend to play three games in four days. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RedWings?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#RedWings<\/a> do have 12 Fs available, Drew Miller has been reserve. The Red Wings see great promise in having Abdelkader in the lineup. They gave him a shiny new seven year, $29.75 million contract and named him an alternate captain in the offseason. He\u2019s a consistent performer on the ice and a motivating voice off of it. It hurts the team having him out of the lineup. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Call Ups Are Impending<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Abdelkader out of the lineup, <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/milledr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drew Miller<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> likely draws back in. The other option is the non-waiver exempt\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/frkma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martin Frk<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who hasn\u2019t been able to find a spot on an <\/span><b>NHL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> roster. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team may also require a defenseman to be called up, as veteran <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kronwni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Niklas Kronwall<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has yet to play in a back-to-back this season and will likely need a rest on Sunday when the Red Wings visit the <\/span><b>New York Islanders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Despite Injuries, Red Wings Performing<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite their terrible luck with injuries over the last couple of weeks, the Red Wings have been finding ways to win. They\u2019ve collected eight points in their last five games, four of which came against teams within the <\/span><b>Atlantic Division<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Speedster <\/span><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/athanan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andreas Athanasiou<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> should be ready to return to the lineup at some point in the next week.
