It was announced today that Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> goaltender\u00a0Brian Elliott<\/a><\/strong> will be out at least two weeks. It has been described as a lower-body injury. He suffered it Wednesday night against the New Jersey Devils<\/a>. He failed to finish the game and also had to be helped off the ice after going cross-crease to try and make a save.<\/p>\n

Brian Elliott Out Two Weeks<\/strong><\/h1>\n

This will be a big loss for the Flyers as Brian Elliott<\/a> had been the starter this season. He will likely be placed on injured reserve alongside\u00a0Michal Neuvirth<\/a><\/strong>, who has only played one game this season due to injury. The Flyers picked up Calvin Pickard<\/a><\/strong> off waivers at the beginning\u00a0of the year. He will most likely become the starter. They have also recalled Alex Lyon<\/a><\/strong> from the minors to be the backup for the time being.<\/p>\n

Brian Elliott has played 14 games this year with a 6-7-0 record. He also has a 2.59 GAA and a .911 SV%. Elliott ranks 6th out of 24 goalies with at least 12 starts this year in Corsica’s<\/a> Goals Saved Above Average. This will be a tough loss for Philly as they will look for one of Pickard or Lyon to step up and replace the big play Elliott has provided.<\/p>\n

Flyers Season Thus Far<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Flyers currently sit in a three-way\u00a0tie in the Metro with 19 points. They have a record of 9-9-1 and will need to keep playing well in what has been a very tough Metro division thus far. Some good news is that they recently got big free agent signing James van Riemsdyk<\/a><\/strong> back. Van Riemsdyk had been out since leaving during the second game of the season with a knee injury.<\/p>\n
