He played through the injury and didn’t leave the game.

So far this season, Boyle has scored six goals and one assist for seven points to go along with 12 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 48.3 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi-For of -1.5.

Over his 12-year NHL career, Boyle has played for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils. If Boyle can keep up his play he is looking to put up career highs this season. He’s currently tied for 2nd in goals on the Devils. The Devils first unit power-play has gotten four goals from Boyle on the man advantage. The Devils are currently 14-59 on the power-play which is eighth in the NHL.

With Boyle hitting the IR, the Devils have recalled Pavel Zacha from Binghamton to take his spot on the roster. Zacha will be able to make up for the physicality that Boyle brings but isn’t expected to light up the score sheet. He is also likely to take Boyle’s spot centring the second line.

Nico Hischier will miss Tuesday’s game with an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. Jean-Sebastien Dea will draw into the line-up to replace Hischier.

Main Photo: PHILADELPHIA, PA. – New Jersey Devils forward Brian Boyle during an Oct. 24 game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
