Today the series continues with the Atlantic Division.<\/i><\/p>\n<h1>2018-19 Atlantic Division Preview<\/h1>\n<h2>Tampa Bay Lightning<\/h2>\n<p>Armand Klisivitch writes:<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> are poised to make a deep playoff run this season. They have all the pieces to go far and many of these moves were made at last year&#8217;s deadline. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vasilan02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrei Vasilevskiy<\/a><\/strong> will look to have another great year after being named a Vezina Trophy finalist. Tampa has a ton of weapons on offensive including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stamkst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steven Stamkos<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kucheni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikita Kucherov,\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>who will once again look to lead the Lightning in scoring. The defence for Tampa is looking better than it was at the start of last season. The Bolts have Norris winner <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hedmavi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victor Hedman<\/a><\/strong> and have added <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcdonry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan McDonagh<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to complement the young <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sergami01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikhail Sergachev<\/a><\/strong>. The Sophomore standout for the Bolts was acquired after being sent to Tampa in the trade the sent<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drouijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Drouin<\/a><\/strong> to Montreal.<\/p>\n<h2>Toronto Maple Leafs<\/h2>\n<p>Michael Mohorovich writes:<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the changes on the roster, the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/maple-leafs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> face one big change heading into the 2018-19 season and that&#8217;s expectations. The last two seasons, the Maple Leafs really didn\u2019t have these but now they are sky-high. With the big-time addition of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tavarjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Tavares<\/a><\/strong>, adding to a core that already includes <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/matthau01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Auston Matthews<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marnemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitch Marner<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/riellmo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Rielly<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/anderfr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frederik Andersen<\/a><\/strong>, the soon-to-be-signed <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nylanwi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">William Nylander<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marlepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Marleau<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kadrina01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nazem Kadri<\/a><\/strong>. Goals will be the name of Toronto&#8217;s game.<\/p>\n<p>The blue line will have to make improvements internally. Newcomer <strong>Igor Ozhiganov<\/strong> and second-year players <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dermotr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Travis Dermott<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/borgman01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andreas Borgman<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rosenca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calle Rosen<\/a><\/strong> are all going to compete for sports on the back end in hopes of improving Toronto\u2019s defensive woes. In goal, the Leafs have an elite starter in Andersen. The backup goalie will either be veteran<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcelhcu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Curtis McElhinney<\/a><\/strong> or AHL goalie of the year <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sparkga01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Garret Sparks<\/a><\/strong>. Either way, the Leafs are in good hands in goal.<\/p>\n<h2>Boston Bruins<\/h2>\n<p>Robert MacDonald writes:<\/p>\n<p>Just when it appeared the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boston Bruins<\/a> might be heading towards a rebuild as their stars aged, an excellent flux of young-guns arrived. Between\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pastrda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Pastrnak<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/krugto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Torey Krug<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcavoch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie McAvoy<\/a><\/strong>,<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/debruja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Debrusk<\/a><\/strong> and others, this team looks set for a long time. Right now, though, they look exceptionally strong with all the other all-star calibre Bruins still with the team. They&#8217;ve still got\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bergepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrice Bergeron<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/charazd01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zdeno Chara<\/a><\/strong>, plus a Vezina-calibre goalie in\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasktu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tuukka Rask<\/a><\/strong>. Oh, and there&#8217;s\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Marchand<\/a><\/strong> tearing the league apart. They&#8217;ve got depth on offence and defence, and with the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/halakja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaroslav Halak<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0signing, they&#8217;ve got depth in net now too. Veteran additions\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/winnida01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Winnik<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stemple01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lee Stempniak<\/a><\/strong> will only increase the competition through camp and pre-season.\u00a0There&#8217;s no reason they shouldn&#8217;t top 100 points again.<\/p>\n<h2>Florida Panthers<\/h2>\n<p>Robert MacDonald writes:<\/p>\n<p>These<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/panthers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Florida Panthers<\/a> are being overlooked a lot right now. They finished last year on a tear, going 25-8-2 after the all-star break and missing playoffs by only one point. They registered 96 points, went 44-30-8, and somehow didn&#8217;t make the post-season. Take that team, with the second-best finish in the entire league, and add top six winger\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hoffmmi02,hoffmmi01&amp;search=Mike+Hoffman&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Hoffman<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>to it. The Panthers will turn a ton of people&#8217;s heads this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/barkoal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aleksander Barkov<\/a><\/strong> is elite,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/huberjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Huberdeau<\/a><\/strong> is a fringe top 20 winger in the league,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/trochvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vincent Trocheck<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>produces at a point-per-game pace as their second line centerman. Their defensive core is young and only getting better with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/ekblaaa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Ekblad<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/y\/yandlke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keith Yandle<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mathemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Matheson<\/a><\/strong> leading the way. KHL All-Star\u00a0<strong>Bogdan Kiselevich\u00a0<\/strong>will only help the back half. They won&#8217;t miss playoffs again this time around.<\/p>\n<h2>Buffalo Sabres<\/h2>\n<p>Dan Mount, LWOH Editor writes:<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sabres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a> likely won\u2019t make the playoffs, but there\u2019s still plenty to be excited about this season. Buffalo\u2019s young players will finally take the next step and start realizing their potential. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/03\/28\/rasmus-dahlin-scouting-report-2018-nhl-draft-1\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Rasmus Dahlin<\/strong><\/a> is going to be a welcome addition and take a lot of pressure off of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/ristora01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rasmus Ristolainen<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eicheja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Eichel<\/a><\/strong> looks to take the next step and put this team on his shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>General manager <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/botteja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jason Botterill<\/a><\/strong> was able to get <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/07\/01\/ryan-oreilly-traded\/\" target=\"_self\">some key pieces after trading<\/a> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/oreilry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan O&#8217;Reilly<\/a><\/strong> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_self\">St. Louis Blues<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/berglpa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrik Berglund<\/a><\/strong> is a good depth addition in the centre spot and got capable players like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/thompta01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tage Thompson<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sobotvl01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vladimir Sobotka<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Goaltending may be the only question because <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/huttoca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carter Hutton<\/a><\/strong> hasn\u2019t played a full season as a No. 1. This team will be playing meaningful hockey in March.<\/p>\n<h2>Montreal Canadiens<\/h2>\n<p>Armand Klisivitch writes:<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> will look to bounce back from a rough season as they look to build towards the future. They have a ton of young prospects who will look to show their potential this year. Two of the biggest names to look out for are <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/04\/08\/jesperi-kotkaniemi-scouting-report-2018-nhl-draft\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Jesperi Kotkaniemi<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pecama01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew Peca<\/a><\/strong>. Kotkaniemi will most likely spend the season in the AHL or in Finland developing. Peca,\u00a0on the other hand, has already been named one of the four centers for the Canadiens according to general manager <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bergema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc Bergevin<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/priceca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carey Price<\/a><\/strong> is looking to bounce back after a subpar year. The departures of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pacioma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Pacioretty<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/galchal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Galchenyuk<\/a><\/strong> will hurt the Habs early on but they look to rely on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/domima01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Domi<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tatarto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tomas Tatar<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drouijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Drouin<\/a><\/strong> to pick up the slack on offence. The defence will be a huge question going into next season and with<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/webersh01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shea Weber<\/a><\/strong> being out until Christmas that doesn\u2019t help much.<\/p>\n<h2>Detroit Red Wings<\/h2>\n<p>Dan Mount, LWOH Editor writes:<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/red-wings\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> are still in the middle of a painful rebuild and losing veterans like<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zettehe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Henrik Zetterberg<\/a><\/strong> isn\u2019t going to help. He was a steadying force in the locker room, but won\u2019t get to ride off into the sunset. The Wings also will be without<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=greenmi03,greenmi02&amp;search=Mike+Green&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Green<\/a><\/strong> for indefinitely. His absence will hurt a defence struggling to find its way.<\/p>\n<p>General manager <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hollake01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ken Holland<\/a><\/strong> will likely try to accelerate the rebuild as players like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/howarja02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jimmy Howard<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nyquigu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gustav Nyquist<\/a><\/strong> may become valuable trade chips at the deadline. However, it\u2019s not been all doom and gloom as they\u2019ve drafted players like<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/03\/30\/filip-zadina-scouting-report-2018-nhl-draft\/\" target=\"_self\"> Filip Zadina<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/04\/07\/joe-veleno-scouting-report-2018-nhl-draft-11\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Joe Veleno<\/strong><\/a> and <strong>Filip Hronek<\/strong>. The Wings of the future will become the Wings of the present if they fall out of contention. The foundation is there, but now Detroit needs to start putting it all together.<\/p>\n<h2>Ottawa Senators<\/h2>\n<p>Michael Mohorovich writes:<\/p>\n<p>Since missing out on the Stanley Cup Final by one goal in 2017, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/senators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> have completely fallen apart. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hoffmmi02,hoffmmi01&amp;search=Mike+Hoffman&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Hoffman<\/a><\/strong> and<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/karlser01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Karlsson<\/a><\/strong> were both traded and both returns were underwhelming. The team is in a tailspin that really doesn\u2019t show any sign of ending anytime soon. And to make matters worse Ottawa kept their first-round pick in June\u2019s draft, choosing <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/04\/05\/brady-tkachuk-scouting-report-2018-nhl-draft\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Brady Tkachuk<\/strong><\/a>, thus sending their 2019 first rounder to Colorado to complete the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/duchema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Duchene<\/a><\/strong> trade.<\/p>\n<p>Tkachuk is a really good player, but the Senators are destined for the basement in the NHL this season and that pick could very likely be a lottery pick and possibly turn into dynamic center <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/07\/19\/early-look-2019-nhl-draft\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Jack Hughes<\/a><\/strong>. For Sens fans sake, here\u2019s to hoping that doesn\u2019t happen.
