MacDonald will miss around six weeks. This would put him about two weeks into the season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/coutuse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Couturier<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/08\/22\/philadephlia-flyers-sean-couturier-re-injures-mcl\/\" target=\"_self\">recently injured<\/a> as well, however, he should be ready to go for the regular season.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Andrew MacDonald Injured In Off-Ice Workout<\/strong><\/h1>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just days before training camp opens, Andrew MacDonald has been ruled out for about six weeks with a lower-body injury.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/todougherty?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@todougherty<\/a> on what it means for the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Flyers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Flyers<\/a>&#39; blue line.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/xr3iAxEP65\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/xr3iAxEP65<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NBC Sports Philadelphia (@NBCSPhilly) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCSPhilly\/status\/1038823026727497731?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 9, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>MacDonald was a middle-of-the-pack defenseman last season. He scored 21 points in 66 games, including six goals. He also got the honor of wearing the &#8216;A&#8217; as one of the team&#8217;s assistant captains. This was voted on by his fellow teammates.<\/p>\n<p>MacDonald has been with the Flyers since the 2013-14 season. He was a trade-deadline deal to the Flyers that year. In exchange, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/islanders\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Islanders<\/a>, his former team, received two draft picks and a minor-league player. Since that deal, MacDonald has played 244 games for the Flyers and scored 63 points.<\/p>\n<p>The absence of MacDonald could be great news for the team&#8217;s rookie defensemen. Rumor has it that <strong>Phillipe Myers<\/strong> will see some NHL playing time in his spot. Myers was undrafted and signed by the Flyers in 2015. He has since become a big name in Philadelphia after scoring 21 points in 50 games in his rookie AHL season last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sanhetr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Travis Sanheim<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/haggro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Hagg<\/a><\/strong> are also expected to get a bit more ice time in MacDonald&#8217;s absence, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadstreethockey.com\/2018\/9\/9\/17837628\/andrew-macdonald-to-miss-6-weeks\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Broad Street Hockey<\/a>.\u00a0 Both saw NHL playing time last year, scoring 10 and nine points respectfully.<\/p>\n<p>Another possibility is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/folinch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Folin<\/a> seems time in MacDonald&#8217;s absence. Folin <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/07\/05\/christian-folin-signs-philadelphia-flyers\/\" target=\"_self\">was signed<\/a> in the off-season to be the team&#8217;s seventh defenseman.<\/p>\n<p>The Flyers lost in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the third time in their last five seasons last year. They were trumped in the first round by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, in six games. The Penguins went on to lose to the second round in six games to the future Stanley Cup Champions, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Capitals<\/a>. This upcoming season will be the fourth for 50-year-old <strong>Dave Hakstol<\/strong>.
