As of now, the following five players will become unrestricted free agents come the summer. Here&#8217;s a quick preview of the 2017 NHL free agent class.<\/p>\n<h2>What to Expect from the 2017 NHL Free Agent Class<\/h2>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/burnsbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brent Burns<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The number one player currently on the 2017 NHL free agent list has to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/burnsbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Brent Burns<\/strong><\/a>. Burns is doing everything he can to surpass his production of last season. In 2015-16 Burns had 27 goals and 75 points, good enough\u00a011th in the league in scoring.<\/p>\n<p>This year Burns has six goals and 14 points in his first 15 games. Burns is looking at a monster pay day from someone. When throwing\u00a0in the fact Burns size of 6&#8217;5&#8243;, 230 lbs, there&#8217;s\u00a0one great\u00a0hockey player.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s little doubt Burns will be seeking a max deal from either the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/category\/sharks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>San Jose Sharks<\/strong><\/a> or another NHL club come July 1st. He could be earning\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/subbapk01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">P.K. Subban<\/a>&#8216;s<\/strong> annual number of $9 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Sharks General Manager <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wilsodo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doug Wilson<\/a><\/strong> cannot lose Burns to free agency. Oshie<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/oshietj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>T.J. Oshie<\/strong><\/a> is off to a good start this year for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/category\/capitals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Washington Capitals<\/strong><\/a> with six goals and eight points. Oshie lit the lamp 26 times last year and has compiled between 51 and 60 points a season, the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>The American right winger turns 30 in December. With Washington having to lock up <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kuzneev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evgeny Kuznetsov<\/a><\/strong> among others, Oshie very well could wind up with a different club come July 1st. Oshie should land a long-term deal that pays him at least $6 million annually.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/radulal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander Radulov<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/category\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Montreal Canadiens<\/strong><\/a> raised eyebrows this summer when they signed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/radulal01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Alexander Radulov<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0Radulov <a href=\"http:\/\/thehockeywriters.com\/what-ever-happened-to-alexander-radulov\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">had issues in his past in the NHL<\/a> with the\u00a0<strong>Nashville Predators<\/strong>, and spent the past four seasons in the\u00a0<strong>KHL.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So far Montreal has been happy with the play of the 30-year-old Russian right winger. Radulov has three goals and 14 points\u00a0in his first 16 games and has been a model citizen on and off the ice.<\/p>\n<p>Radulov only signed a one-year deal this past summer, so as of now he will be hitting the free agent market once again in a few months. In terms of offensive production, the 27-year-old American defenceman\u00a0has been a model of consistency. The last three years, Shattenkirk has put either 44 or 45 points every season.<\/p>\n<p>This year the native of\u00a0<strong>New Rochelle, New York<\/strong> already has 12 points in his first 16 games, including three power-play goals. There are a lot of teams looking for blue-line help and Shattenkirk brings an extra dimension with his offensive skills.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/category\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>St. Louis Blues<\/strong><\/a> had to make some tough salary cap calls this past summer by letting <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/backeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Backes<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brouwtr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Troy Brouwer<\/a><\/strong> sign elsewhere. Shattenkirk could be moving on as well due to the cap.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bishobe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Bishop<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bishobe01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ben Bishop<\/strong><\/a> is coming off his best season. Last year Bishop went 35-21-4 with 2.06 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. The soon-to-be 30-year-old netminder has finished as a <strong>Vezina Trophy<\/strong> finalist two of the last three seasons.<\/p>\n<p>With <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/y\/yzermst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Yzerman<\/a><\/strong> signing <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vasilan02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrei Vasilevskiy<\/a><\/strong> to an extension this past summer and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/category\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tampa Bay Lightning&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> cap issues, it&#8217;s hard to come up with a scenario that has Bishop staying with the Bolts past this season.<\/p>\n<p>If Vasilevskiy can show the Lightning brass he is ready to take over as a number one goalie for a <strong>Stanley Cup<\/strong> contender, Bishop could be traded before this year&#8217;s trade deadline.<\/p>\n<p>So far this season Bishop isn&#8217;t off to a great start. A record of 5-5-0 with 2.93 goals against average is not what you expect from the 6&#8217;7&#8243; goalie.
