He has scored 20 goals along with 22 assists for 42 career points in 132 NHL games. His best season was in 2015-16 when he scored eight goals and 11 assists in 39 games with the Devils. Boucher was originally drafted in the fourth round, 99th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Devils.

This season, Boucher spent most of the season in the AHL, but he did play in 20 games with the Canucks. In 45 games with the Utica Comets, he scored 25 goals and 21 assists for 46 points. He also added 35 minutes in penalties. In 20 games with the Canucks Boucher had three goals and two assists for five points. His possession numbers were 51.6 percent Corsi-For with a relative Corsi of +2.6. Boucher is coming off a one-year contract worth $687,500. He signed this contract in July 2017 with the Canucks.

What This Means for Boucher’s Future

Boucher will look to win a spot on the Canucks Roster during training camp. After having a solid year in Utica he will look to bounce back and find himself back on an NHL roster. If he makes the roster expect Boucher to play on the third or fourth line. Boucher has the ability to play both up the middle and on the wing so it will be interesting to see where the Canucks slot him in. In his five year career, Boucher has yet to play in more than 39 NHL games in a season. Let’s see if the 24-year-old center/winger can rebound next season.

Main Photo: EDMONTON, AB – APRIL 9: Reid Boucher #24 of the Vancouver Canucks warms up before playing against the Edmonton Oilers on April 9, 2017 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
