The Winnipeg Jets Are Shopping Alexander Burmistrov<\/h2>\n

Burmistrov is on the last\u00a0year of a two-way show me deal Kevin Cheveldayoff<\/strong> gave him last off-season. He carries a cap hit of $1,550,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 25-year old was the beneficiary of an early season injury to centreman\u00a0Bryan Little<\/a><\/strong>. Burmistrov was set to be a staple in the press box until the\u00a0injury\u00a0gave him another chance to crack the lineup and show the team something.<\/p>\n

He hasn’t.<\/p>\n

Struggles<\/h3>\n

In his ten game audition, Burmistrov has more blooper reel plays than points. Be it his turnover which turned into\u00a0goal against last weekend or failing to get to the face-off circle in time last night, his play is being highlighted for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

Burmistrov was once a positive shot suppressor, but that skill has faded. His ineptitude of\u00a0creating offense has remained. His\u00a0two-year stint in the KHL has set his development on a one-way ticket backwards.<\/p>\n

It’s hard to believe anything will come of this report. Burmistrov’s trade value is at an all-time low. Perhaps the Jets can target teams with a struggling penalty kill, \u00a0pointing them to the shorthanded minutes Burmistrov has logged. At this point however, shopping Alexander Burmistrov straight up and getting something would be a pretty big surprise. Involving him as an extra in a package is semi-realistic, though. In any event, with an expiring contract, his days as a member of the Jets seem numbered.<\/p>\n
