Letestu will attend Panthers training camp and attempt to earn a full contract with the team. Under the terms of the CBA, Letestu is not on the Panthers reserve list and is still technically a free agent. He could still choose to sign with any club who offers him a contract.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FlaPanthers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#FlaPanthers<\/a> announce Professional Tryout for Forward Mark Letestu.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/M4NmZQgiAP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/M4NmZQgiAP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XAoM9yostL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/XAoM9yostL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Florida Panthers (@FlaPanthers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FlaPanthers\/status\/1029443426453008385?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">August 14, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h1>Panthers Offer Mark Letestu A Professional Try-Out<\/h1>\n<p>Over his nine-year NHL career, Letestu has played for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/penguins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blue-jackets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton\u00a0Oilers<\/a>. He has scored 93 career goals and 117 assists for 210 career points in 558 career games. Letestu has added six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 36 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. His best season was during the 2016-2017 season when he scored 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 78 games for the Oilers.<\/p>\n<p>Last season, he scored nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 80 games. He also added 10 minutes in penalties. His possession\u00a0numbers were 49 percent Corsi with a relative Corsi of -3.3. percent. Letestu started the season in Edmonton\u00a0but was traded to the Blue Jackets at the NHL trade deadline. He did not score a point in the Blue Jackets first-round playoff loss to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/\/nhl-teams\/capitals\/\" target=\"_self\">Washington<\/a>. Letestu just completed a three-year, $5.4 million contract with an AAV of $1.8 million. He signed this contract with the Oilers in July 2015.<\/p>\n<h1>What This Means for Letestu&#8217;s Future<\/h1>\n<p>Letestu will bring his experience and face-off abilities in an attempt to earn a contract\u00a0with his new club. Letestu is a career 52.1% on draws during his career which will help any team on face-offs. As a nine-year Vet, Letestu will most likely be hoping to grab a spot in the bottom six in his hopes to raise the Stanley Cup before he retires. He can also help out on the power play as he has 33 goals and 30 assists in his career when playing on the man-advantage.
