The Golden Knights have continued their historical season with the victory in their first game of the final.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nosekto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tomas Nosek<\/a><\/strong> scored the game-winner for the Knights.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Golden Knights Victorious In First Stanley Cup Final Game<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The Golden Knights got off to another lead less than ten minutes\u00a0into the first\u00a0period when <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/milleco02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colin Miller<\/a><\/strong> scored on the power-play. The Capitals would respond with two quick goals by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/connobr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brett Connolly<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/backsni02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nicklas Backstrom<\/a><\/strong>. The goal were scored within a minute of each other.\u00a0Vegas would up tying the game on a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/karlswi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">William Karlsson<\/a><\/strong> wrist shot at the end of the first period.<\/p>\n<p>Reilly Smith gave the Knights the lead again three minutes into the second. But the Capitals\u00a0once again tied the game at 3-3 on a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/carlsjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Carlson<\/a> goal in the 2nd period.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wilsoto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tom Wilson<\/strong><\/a> scored early in the third to give the Capitals a 4-3 lead but less than two minutes\u00a0later <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/reavery01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Reaves<\/a><\/strong>,who had the game-winner for the Knights in game five of the Western Conference\u00a0Final, scored to tie up the game for the Golden Knights. Nosek scored the game-winner for the Golden Knights at the 9:44 mark of the third period. He recorded the empty netter as well<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Offense Comes Alive for Both Teams<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>In a game with two high caliber goalies, both team&#8217;s offenses came alive. In the first period, each team was able to put up two goals. Three out of the four goals came in the last six minutes\u00a0of the first period. The two teams combined for ten goals in the game. Backstrom and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/oshietj01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">T.J. Oshie<\/a><\/strong> each had two points for the Capitals.\u00a0Nosek led the Golden Knights with two goals.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Goaltending<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/holtbbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Braden Holtby<\/a><\/strong> had a lot of trouble in the first period when it came to rebound control. It is something he has had trouble with before in these playoffs. This led to Vegas scoring two goals on 11 shots in the first period. Holtby was coming off back to back shutouts for the Capitals to carry them to the Stanley Cup Final.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fleurma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a><\/strong> had a rare poor peformance as gave up four goals on 28 shots. This is only the third time Fleury has given up more than three goals in a playoff game this year. He had taken the loss in the previous two games when he gave up more than three goals.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Special Teams<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Both teams played a fairly clean game, but the Golden Knights took advantage of their only powerplay with Miller&#8217;s goal.
