Kevin Kurz of the Athletic reports that San Jose Sharks<\/a> Forward Evander Kane<\/strong><\/a> was playing with a separated shoulder and an MCL injury in their\u00a0second-round loss to the\u00a0Vegas Golden Knights<\/a>. No timeline has been given for his recovery, but he should be ready by the start of next season.<\/p>\n

Evander Kane<\/a> Injured<\/h1>\n

There hasn’t been any news to when the injury was suffered as Kane didn’t miss any time this year.<\/p>\n

This season he had 29 goals and 25 assists for 54 points. He also added 82 minutes\u00a0in penalties. His possession\u00a0numbers were 51.5 percent Corsi with a relative Corsi of +5.<\/p>\n

Over his 9-year NHL career, Kane has played for the\u00a0Buffalo Sabres<\/a>, San Jose Sharks<\/a>, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets<\/a>. He has put up 186 goals and 168 assists for 354 career points in 574 career\u00a0games. He was originally\u00a0drafted in the first round, fourth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers.<\/p>\n

What Does This Mean for the Future<\/h1>\n

Kane enters the off-season as an unrestricted free agent and his health will currently be a factor for teams interested in him. Since joining the Sharks at the deadline Kane had nine goals and five assists for 14 points in 17 games. Kane is one of five players on the Sharks that will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. The other four are Joe Thornton<\/a><\/strong>, Joel Ward<\/a><\/strong>, Jannik Hansen<\/a><\/strong>, and Eric Fehr<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Joel Ward and Joe Thornton didn’t play in a Stanley Cup Playoff game this year. Thornton only played in 47 games during the regular season before being sidelined with a knee injury in January.\u00a0 It wouldn’t be surprising if the Sharks tried to re-sign Kane after seeing how well he produced with the team after being traded from the Sabres.<\/p>\n
