Laine blocked a shot by Kings defencemen <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/martial01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alec Martinez<\/a><\/strong> in the second period and did not return to the game. After the game, head coach <strong>Paul Maurice<\/strong> mentioned the injury to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/\/2018\/03\/21\/winnipeg-jets-patrik-laine\/\" target=\"_self\">Patrick Laine\u2019s left leg<\/a>, but insisted \u201cwe think he\u2019s going to be fine.\u201d Maurice added, \u201cWe don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything long term.\u201d The Winnipeg Jets head coach clarified that the blocked shot only resulted in bruising and no fracture was found.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NHLJets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#NHLJets<\/a> coach Paul Maurice says Patrik Laine suffered a bruise and nothing is broken.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wb4BZRsIT3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/wb4BZRsIT3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sportsnet\/status\/976876485037477888?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 22, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h1>Patrick Laine Out with Bruised Leg<\/h1>\n<p>The Winnipeg Jets head coach even joked with the media about the injury, further insisting that Patrik\u2019s injury was not serious. \u201cIt\u2019s a concussion,\u201d said Maurice, \u201cwe\u2019ve already had him looked at in a couple of different ways, there\u2019s nothing sinister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the media pushed for further detail in the days following, Paul Maurice has said that Laine is listed as day to day. The Jets appear to believe that Laine will not be out for an extended period. \u201cWhen he gets his foot in the boot and feels comfortable he\u2019ll be back playing,\u201d Maurice said. \u201cFour days to 14 days is probably the range we\u2019ve seen in the past. That has nothing to do Patty. We\u2019ll see how he heals. Early on, I\u2019d say it\u2019s been very good. Quite a bit less swelling after day one and day two, so he\u2019s motoring around on his own power.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Jets need a quick return for Patrik Laine<\/h2>\n<p>A quick return for Laine would be great news for Winnipeg as the nineteen-year-old has played well for the Jets, posting 43 goals and 68 points in 73 games this season. It is important to note that the Winnipeg Jets are in no rush to return Laine to the lineup. Winnipeg is currently eight points ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/wild\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> and eight points behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a>, with only nine regular-season games remaining.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday\u2019s game against the Los Angeles Kings.
