On Thursday, the\u00a0Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> and executive vice president and\u00a0general manager Jim Rutherford<\/strong><\/a> announced they recalled forward Josh Jooris<\/a><\/strong> on an emergency basis from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, where has appeared in three games, scoring one goal.<\/p>\n

Injuries to Dominik\u00a0Simon<\/strong> (Lower Body) and Bryan Rust<\/strong><\/a> (Upper Body), sustained during Wednesday evening’s game vs. the Philadelphia\u00a0Flyers<\/a>, left both players questionable for Saturday’s tilt with the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The #Pens<\/a> have recalled forward Josh Jooris on an emergency basis from the @WBSPenguins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jooris, 27, was acquired by the Penguins from the Hurricanes in exchange for Greg McKegg on Feb. 26.<\/p>\n

Josh Jooris Recalled by The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/h1>\n

Route to Pittsburgh<\/h3>\n

Jooris was acquired by the Penguins at the trade deadline\u00a0from the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> in exchange for Greg McKegg<\/strong><\/a> and has appeared in 31 games this season, scoring three goals and six points.<\/p>\n

The Penguins have been looking to add a solid centre for their\u00a0fourth line and Jooris may be that missing piece. Jooris saw some work at Pittsburgh’s practice Friday, centring a line with Carter Rowney<\/a><\/strong> and Tom Kuhnhackl<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Career Recap<\/h3>\n

Jooris joined the NHL in 2013 as an undrafted free-agent out of Union College and is a veteran\u00a0of 204 career NHL games. He has spent time with the Calgary Flames<\/a>, New York Rangers<\/a>, Arizona Coyotes<\/a> and Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 23 goals and 55 points. His best season came in 2014-15 when he scored 12 goals and added 12 assists for 24 points in 60 games with the Flames.<\/p>\n
