With 15 points through 49 games with the Los Angeles Kings, Shore showed he could play a bottom six role. After being acquired from the Kings in the Dion Phaneuf trade, Shore played in only six games for the Senators registering one assist in that time, however.

The 16 points so far this season are only one off his career high set last season with the Kings. With him already set a career mark in assists (12) Shore is on pace for a career year. If he is able to score three more goals, he will set a career high in that category as well.

His advanced stats bode well for the Flames. So far this season shore sits at a 52.82% corsi for rating at even strength. His relative corsi sits at more than decent 3.44 as well. If he can continue to play as he had all year the flames have definitely helped themselves going forward.

Calgary gives up very little in the trade. The seventh rounder will be for the 2019 draft.

Moving Forward

Shore looks to slot into a third or fourth line role, similar to his spot with the Kings and Senators this year. Possibly playing alongside the likes of Troy Brouwer, Matt Stajan and Curtis Lazar on Clagary’s fourth line is an intriguing possibility for the 25 year old.

The centreman will become an RFA at season’s end after his one year, $925,000 contract expires. Many would expect a similar contract for next season as well as this was the same cap hit from his prior contract as well.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

After only a short stint in the Canadian Capital, the Ottawa Senators trade Nick Shore to the Calgary Flames.
