The Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> have agreed to trade promising forward Ryan Hartman<\/a><\/strong> to the Nashville Predators<\/a>. The Predators also get the Hawks fifth round pick. The Hawks receive the Predators first round pick in 2018, prospect Victor Edjsell<\/strong>, and the Predators fourth round pick in 2018.<\/p>\n

Chicago Blackhawks Trade Ryan Hartman to the Nashville Predators<\/h1>\n

The Blackhawks completed a trade Monday with the Nashville Predators.\u00a0Key Players<\/p>\n

In Hartman, the Predators get a solid contributor with growth potential. He is an extremely fast skater, strong two-way forward and plays with an edge. This season he scored eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 57 games. He also added 58 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 54.2 percent Corsi\u00a0and a relative Corsi of +0.8. Those totals are lower compared to last season, where he scored 19 goals, 12 assists for 31 points.<\/p>\n

However, this has only been his second full NHL season since being drafted by the Blackhawks, where he was picked in the 1st round, 30th overall of the 2013 NHL draft. In this short time, he has put up 27 goals and 30 assists for 57 career points in 141 career games.<\/p>\n

Edjsell, 22, signed as a free agent with the Predators last season. They loaned him back to HV71 in the SHL. He has scored 17 goals and 30 points in 44 games this season. Ben Kerr looked at him in last summer’s Top Shelf Prospects series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What This Means for the Future.<\/h2>\n

The Predators\u00a0have received a valuable player for future seasons to come. Although currently considered\u00a0a bottom six player, with more time and encouragement the young winger will become a consistent threat to the Hawks opposition.<\/p>\n

The Blackhawks have had a poor season by their normal standards. With unmovable key players on no-trade protection, they have limited\u00a0options. Hartman is also due for a raise so it may be cost effective for them in this trade.<\/p>\n
