Stan Bowman has his hands full as he switches his team into rebuild mode and prepares for future seasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">Chicago\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0Are Sellers<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">As the Chicago\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0approach the NHL February 26th trade deadline, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory. This season did not turn out as planned or expected after their off-season roster moves. The\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0are 27-27-8 on the year, sitting 10 huge points behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blues\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Blues<\/a> who now hold the last wild-card spot. With the trade deadline two days away, this time around the Chicago\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0will be selling assets instead of buying.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">The question on everyone&#8217;s mind is &#8220;Who goes?&#8221; General Manager <strong>Stan Bowman<\/strong> has a few assets that\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">may be<\/span>\u00a0dealt before the Monday deadline. He&#8217;s been featured on the top line for the last few games. This has given him the opportunity to showcase his talent to the other teams with scouts watching those games. <span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Bouma<\/span>\u00a0and Sharp are also potentials to leave but have been in and out of the lineup a lot lately. Making it hard for scouts to judge their value.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">As for the RFA&#8217;s, Hartman&#8217;s name has been in the rumor mill for a while now.\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Duclair<\/span>\u00a0is another RFA at season&#8217;s end which will present Bowman yet another salary cap problem down the road. His current $1.2 million salary will need\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">to be<\/span>\u00a0addressed with a contract offer that\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">may be<\/span>\u00a0more than he&#8217;s worth based on his inconsistent play.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Moveable Players With Some Salary Retention<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/saadbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Brandon Saad<\/strong> <\/a>&#8211; $6,000,000 cap hit signed through the end of the 2020-21 season<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"mceItemHidden\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/anisiar01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Artem<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Anisimov<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; $4,550,000 cap hit\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">sighed<\/span>\u00a0through the end of 2020-21 season<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">Both <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2018\/02\/12\/nhl-rumor-roundup-tomas-plekanec-max-domi-brandon-saad\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saad<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2018\/02\/21\/nhl-rumours-jarome-iginla-bobby-ryan-artem-anisimov\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Anisimov<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">have been mentioned<\/span>\u00a0in rumors lately but will need Bowman to get creative with the salaries if he is to move either of them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"mceItemHidden\"><span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Unmovable Players<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/seabrbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Brent Seabrook<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; $6,000,000 cap hit signed through 2023-24<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/keithdu01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Duncan Keith<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; $5,538,462 cap hit signed through 2022-23<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">Both Keith and Seabrook have seen a major decline in their performance this season. While a lot of the disappointed Blackhawk fans would love to &#8220;ship them out!&#8221;, Bowman\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">is handcuffed<\/span>\u00a0to these contracts and would have to keep a lot of the salary to make a deal. Consequently, it&#8217;s likely that he hopes this year is an anomaly and they&#8217;ll recover their solid defensive play next season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Untouchables<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kanepa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Patrick Kane<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; $10,5000,000 cap hit signed through 2022-23<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"mceItemHidden\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/toewsjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Toews<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; $10,500,000 cap hit signed through 2022-23<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"mceItemHidden\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/debrial01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Alex\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">DeBrincat<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; $778.333 cap hit signed through 2019-20<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">The monster twin 8-year contracts signed by\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Toews<\/span>\u00a0and Kane after the 2015 Stanley Cup season made them the highest paid players in the NHL at the time. The purpose of the contracts was to reward the\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0two shining stars for their third Stanley Cup win. They\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">were made<\/span>\u00a0&#8220;<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0for life&#8221; by Bowman. However, that move is now being questioned by some of the distraught fans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">Kane is consistent every season and still produces the most points (57) on the\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>. However, Toews play has many fans wondering what happened to their captain. He is third on the team in scoring with 40 points, but his overall play looks off to many. Starting with last years playoff loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a>, in which he looked like he was playing hurt. While he has a lot of games in his career and the associated wear and tear, he is not going anywhere soon. Trading\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Toews<\/span>\u00a0would be a public relations nightmare for the storied franchise. Although they used to say the same thing about Wayne Gretzky too, right? Settle down Blackhawk faithful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">Rookie <span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">DeBrincat<\/span>\u00a0is another untouchable player who is tied for second in rookie goal scoring with 22 goals. The &#8220;Cat&#8221; at\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">5&#8217;7<\/span>&#8221; and 165 pounds is having a great rookie season on a struggling team. His potential is obvious and he\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">should be<\/span>\u00a0a Blackhawk for many years to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Blue Monday<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"mceItemHidden\">As Monday&#8217;s trade deadline nears, all the Blackhawk faithful are waiting to see what moves Bowman makes. One of Bowman&#8217;s goals will be to stockpile future draft picks. Additionally, It would be nice if he could replace the 2nd round pick for the upcoming 2018 draft. That pick\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenGrammarError\">was dealt<\/span>\u00a0away February 2016 when the\u00a0<span class=\"hiddenSpellError\">Blackhawks<\/span>\u00a0were buyers vying for another Cup.
