The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/panthers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida Panthers<\/a> agreed to terms with the forward on a three-year extension worth $3.6 million. He will remain with the Panthers through the 2020-21 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I came here two years ago, I talked about wanting to come to a team that was looking to have some success and win,\u201d Sceviour said in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/sports\/florida-panthers\/fl-sp-panthers-colton-sceviour-contract-extension-20180212-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">phone interview<\/a>. \u201cThe young core, I think it\u2019s something we\u2019re just getting better. I felt like I wanted to be a part of that moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At 28 years old, Sceviour could have been looked at as a potential trade target ahead of the NHL&#8217;s February 26th deadline. His versatility in the lineup and penalty killing make him a sought-after target. Overall, he ranks second among forwards in\u00a0total shorthanded ice time at 111:45. He leads all forwards with 43 blocked shots, with a team-leading 18 of them coming on the penalty kill. Since joining the team in 2016, Sceviour has logged the second most shorthanded time among forwards with 272:39 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Drafted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dallas Stars<\/a> during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Sceviour made his debut in the 2010-11 season. He only played one game that season, though. He registered his first NHL point in 2012-13, a year he also appeared in just one game. in 170 games for the Stars, Sceviour had 28 goals and 34 assists.<\/p>\n<p>Spending seven years with the Stars organization, he signed a two-year contract with the Panthers in 2016. He would post a career-best\u00a011 goals that season.\u00a0In his career, Sceviour has posted 44 goals and 56 assists in 297 career games. He registered his 100th NHL point on February 1st with a goal against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sabres\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This season Sceviour has seven goals and seven assists in 46 games for the Panthers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sceviour or Scevi-score?
