The NHL trade deadline is inching closer and closer, and we take a look at some of the latest NHL trade rumours and analyze what they mean going forward. In the Monday edition, we speculate on the futures of Montreal Canadiens<\/a> forward\u00a0Tomas Plekanec<\/a><\/strong>, Arizona Coyotes<\/a> right wing\u00a0Max Domi<\/a> <\/strong>and Brandon Saad<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tomas Plekanec, Max Domi and Brandon Saad Featured in Today’s NHL Rumours<\/h1>\n

Tomas Plekanec<\/a><\/h2>\n

Rumour: During the latest edition of Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet\u2019s Nick Kypreos<\/a><\/strong> said there are teams interested in the Montreal Canadiens centre\u00a0Tomas Plekanec.<\/strong> The San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in the mix. Plekanec\u2019s price tag is $6 million per season\u00a0but is a free agent at the end of the season.<\/em><\/p>\n

Analysis: The Sharks are in desperate need of help at centre after the loss of Joe Thornton<\/a><\/strong>. San Jose is relying on a wide array of pivots, but Plekanec can be helpful in winning defensive draws and killing penalties.<\/p>\n

The Penguins are already rich at the centre\u00a0spot\u00a0but would love to have Plekanec to ease the burden on Sidney Crosby<\/a><\/strong> when it comes to winning faceoffs. Riley Sheahan<\/a><\/strong> has been a solid pickup, but Pittsburgh would look to add a key defensive player.<\/p>\n

Max Domi<\/a><\/h2>\n

Rumor: Saturday\u2019s Headlines on HNIC speculated that the Arizona Coyotes are still testing the market<\/a> on forward Max Domi<\/strong>. The son of enforcer Tie Domi<\/a><\/strong> is struggling on offensive as he only has three goals and 22 points in 54 games this season.<\/em><\/p>\n

Analysis: The same segment did say that the Coyotes aren\u2019t necessarily giving up on Domi, but a fresh start could help. Domi\u2019s offensive totals have plummeted from his 18-goal,\u00a0 rookie season in 2015-16. However, a new team may kickstart the 12th<\/sup> overall pick in the 2013 NHL draft.<\/p>\n

Brandon Saad<\/a><\/h2>\n

Rumor: In Elliotte Friedman\u2019s 31 Thoughts column<\/a>, the Chicago Blackhawks could be in the market to trade Brandon Saad<\/strong>\u2026 again. Chicago is in need of cap relief and Saad fetches $6 million a season. The Blackhawks need to decide if they will buy or sell before the Feb. 26 deadline.<\/em><\/p>\n

Analysis: Getting rid of Saad\u2019s contract would be massive, but it\u2019s always hard to deal a young player that has solid offensive potential. Saad is only two seasons removed from a 31-goal season in 2015-16. He has 13 goals and 11 assists in 55 games this season and would get a nice return if general manager Stan Bowman<\/strong> decides to sell.<\/p>\n
