Last season, he put up 22 goals and 34 assists for 56 points in 82 games played. He also has put up 32 penalty minutes. His possession numbers are 49.4 percent Corsi, and +2.9 relative Corsi. Hoffman did all this on a bad Senators team. The three prior years though, he scored over 20 goals each time. His best season came in 2016-17 when he put up 26 goals and 61 points.

Hoffman also had a great playoff run with the Senators in 2017 when he had six goals and 11 points in 19 playoff games. He was one of their best performers during their run to the Eastern Conference Final. In 321 career games, Hoffman has 107 goals and 123 assists for 215 career points. He has added seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 25 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Contract wise, Hoffman is signed for two more years at just over $5 million per season. He also has a modified no-trade clause in that contract. Getting Hoffman adds the offence that could make San Jose a serious Stanley Cup contender going forward. With a new team and new linemates, Hoffman will look to try to continue his scoring ways, and help lead his new club on a long Stanley Cup Playoff run next season. With this move, they announce that it is their intention to win now.

Donaghey

Donaghey, 22, played for the Brampton Beast in the ECHL last year. He scored nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 54 games.

Boedker

Boedker, 28, is a ten-year NHL veteran who has played for the Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, and San Jose Sharks. In 619 career games, he has scored 109 goals and 179 assists for 288 career points. Last season, Boedker had 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 74 games for the Sharks. His possession numbers were 47.2 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of -4.6.

Boedker has two years remaining on the four-year, $16 million deal that he signed with the Sharks in 2016. While the deal carries a cap hit of $4 million per season, he will earn $3 million in salary in each of the next two years, as the contract was front loaded.

“Mikkel Boedker is a competitive, versatile, two-way forward who can play both wings,” added Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He has a track record of playing his best hockey in the most important games, including the playoffs and internationally.
