He was hit during the Winter Classic, and the injury caused him to miss the rest of the regular season, and 20 games of the next season. He came back, but in December of the same year, Crosby was hit by David Krejci, of the Boston Bruins, and he received another concussion due to it.

Crosby is one of the best players in the league, and part of his amazing skill is being able to get into the dirty areas, and fight for the puck. This causes him to get knocked around a lot, and since his play style isn’t very adaptable, it could be a while until he steps out onto the ice again.

The loss of their captain is a big one for the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the regular season starting in just three days, they’ll have to make some last minute adjustments to work around his injury. Crosby had another exceptional season last year where in 80 games, he had 85 points, 36 of those being goals.

Although it is a very hard injury for the Penguins to work around, it might give players like Oskar Sundqvist a chance to play in a few regular season games. It’s likely Crosby will miss at least one month of play, especially considering the Penguins will want to make sure he’s at 100 percent, to help minimize the chance of another concussion. One more could be career-ending.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Sidney Crosby has been diagnosed with yet another concussion.
