In a surprise move, the team announced today that Fisher will return to the team soon. The two sides have been in negotiations to bring Fisher back into the Predators. Fisher has been enjoying his retirement and had no intention of returning to the NHL. However, it seems that the Predators made him an offer that he could not refuse. He has signed with the team on a one-year deal for the remainder of this season.

Nashville Predators Sign Mike Fisher Out Of Retirement

While no timetable is set for the date that he will return to the lineup as an active player, one can assume that it will happen before the Feb. 26th trade deadline.

Fisher To Help Guide The Predators Back To The Finals

The Predators (29-12-7) currently sit in second in the Central Division with 65 points, three points behind the Winnipeg Jets (30-13-8) who sit in first with 68 points. Fisher would certainly add some needed punch to the team that he captained to a Stanley Cup Final last year. Falling just two games shy of the finals victory. After a career in which he was a calming and leading voice, his presence in the locker room will provide the leadership necessary to take the Predators back into the finals. On a team stacked with talent, P.K. Winning games and driving teammates to perform at their best.

Fisher played for the Predators from 2011-2018. He came to the Predators in a trade with the Ottawa Senators during the 2011 season. One of the reasons was to be closer to his wife singer Carrie Underwood. Interestingly the deal included a clause that should the Preds win a playoff series the Senators would get a third-round pick. Fisher and the Preds delivered and the Senators got their pick.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The Nashville Predators Mike Fisher is coming out of retirement.
