The Philadelphia Flyers <\/strong>announced today that\u00a0defenceman\u00a0Michael Del Zotto<\/a><\/strong> has suffered a\u00a0a lower body injury. It will cause him to miss the next four to five weeks.<\/p>\n

The Flyers did not release and information about when the injury occurred, or any more details. It is said that this injury is new and not related to the wrist injury that Del Zotto suffered from last season. According to Del Zotto, his wrist is at 100 percent.\u00a0“Health-wise, I’m great,” he said earlier this week<\/a>. “I haven’t had any restrictions or any setbacks.”<\/p>\n

Del Zotto played in 52 games last season, recording 13 points. He suffered a ligament injury in his wrist, that required surgery. Del Zotto missed the stretch run of the season and the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Michael Del Zotto Out 4-5 Weeks with Injury<\/h2>\n

Del Zotto has been injury plagued throughout his career, including last season where he had multiple upper body injuries as well. It will be interesting to see how he rebounds from this injury, and how it affects his numbers this season.<\/p>\n

Del Zotto, 26, is a seven-year NHL veteran who has also played for the New York Rangers<\/strong>, and Nashville Predators<\/strong>. He has 41 goals and 130 assists for 171 points in 433 career NHL games. He has added three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 33 career playoff games.<\/p>\n

The New York Rangers drafted Del Zotto in the first round, 20th overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Del Zotto joins forward\u00a0Scott Laughton<\/a><\/strong>, and fellow defencman Brandon Manning<\/a><\/strong> amongst the Flyers walking wounded. This could mean that rookie Ivan Provorov<\/strong> makes the Flyers roster.<\/p>\n

The Flyers finish up their pre-season schedule tomorrow, with a game against the Boston Bruins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
