Star defenseman <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/shattke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Shattenkirk<\/a><\/strong> tore his meniscus and is going to have to undergo surgery. He&#8217;s out indefinitely, but the severity of the injury could have him missing the remainder of the year.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kreidch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Kreider<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2018\/01\/05\/rangers-forward-chris-kreider-to-undergo-rib-surgery\/\" target=\"_self\">is also out indefinitely<\/a> with a rib injury, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/staalma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc Staal<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hayeske01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Hayes<\/a><\/strong> are both considered day-to-day.<\/p>\n<p>Shattenkirk has played in all 46 games so far this season. In his first year with the Rangers, Shattenkirk has recorded 23 points. He&#8217;s averaged a few seconds over 20 minutes a game. This is the second most of Rangers skaters. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYRangers\/status\/954399470959112192\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shattenkirk said of the injury<\/a>, &#8220;It\u2019s tough&#8230; I\u2019ve been trying to battle through this for a lot of reasons and when it came down to it \u2026 you have to think about yourself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Rangers have called up <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/deangan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony DeAngelo<\/a><\/strong> to replace Shattenkirk. DeAngelo was <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2017\/06\/23\/derek-stepan-antti-raanta-traded\/\" target=\"_self\">part of the deal<\/a> that sent <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stepade01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Derek Stepan<\/a><\/strong> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/nhl-teams\/coyotes\/\" target=\"_self\">Arizona Coyotes<\/a>. DeAngelo was a 2014 first round pick and saw his NHL debut with the Coyotes last year. In total, he played in 39 games and recorded 14 points. He&#8217;s also played eight games so far with the Rangers. In those, he only produced one point. In the AHL, the 22-year-old has played 29 games and tallied 13 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Rangers also recalled the 24-year-old <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/catenda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Catenacci<\/a><\/strong>. Catenacci has played 23 games in the AHL, this year, and recorded ten points. He has 11 NHL games under his belt so far, all with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/nhl-teams\/sabres\/\" target=\"_self\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a>. He ended up without a point in those games.
