Now Francis is entering his third season as general manager and 11th season with Hurricanes management.<\/p>\n<h2>Carolina Hurricanes Sign General Manager <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/francro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Francis<\/a> to Three-Year Contract Extension<\/h2>\n<p>Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos announced the move on Tuesday. The Carolina Hurricanes have extended general manager and executive vice president Ron Francis to a contract extension through the 2018-19 season.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement made to TheScore.com Karmanos said &#8220;Ron has rebuilt our organization the right way, stocking our team and system with young players who will help this franchise compete for the Stanley Cup year in and year out. I&#8217;m thrilled that he will continue to see the job through. The future is very bright for the Hurricanes in Carolina.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Under Ron Francis&#8217; guidance the Hurricanes have built a promising crop of young talent.
