The Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>\u00a0have placed goaltender Corey Crawford<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. While the team would not get into details on exactly what the injury is, they have indicated that it is not serious and that the star goalie is week-to-week.<\/p>\n

Cristiano Simonetta broke down the video and has apparently found the spot where Crawford was hurt. Crawford played the entire game in the Blackhawks 4-3 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Chicago Blackhawks Goaltender Corey Crawford on IR<\/h1>\n

Crawford has an 11-7-2 record in 21 games for the Blackhawks this season. He has a 2.29 goals-against-average, a .930 save percentage, and two shutouts. Crawford was one of the top goalies in the NHL in most statistical categories\u00a0and was garnering talk of being a Vezina Trophy contender this season.<\/p>\n

Crawford, 32, has spent his entire eight-year\u00a0career with the Blackhawks. He is 225-122-45 with a 2.37 goals-against-average, a .919 save percentage and 23 shutouts in his NHL career. He has also backstopped the Hawks to two Stanley Cups. Crawford was a second-round pick, 52nd overall, by the Blackhawks at the 2003\u00a0NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n

Crawford will be out at least seven days due to the injured reserve designation. Backup goaltender\u00a0Anton Forsberg<\/a><\/strong> should see most of the action in that team. He is 1-2-2 on the season with a 3.67 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage.<\/p>\n

Replacing Crawford’s spot on the roster is Jean-Francois Berube<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 The Hawks recalled the goaltender from the Rockford Icehogs\u00a0of the AHL.\u00a0 Berube spent the last two season as a part-time backup with the New York Islanders<\/a>. He was taken in the expansion draft by the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> before becoming a free agent and signing with Chicago.<\/p>\n
