He is still wearing a red no-contact jersey and has no anticipated timetable for his return. It was also announced on Tuesday that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Marchand<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/krugto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Torey Krug<\/a><\/strong>, who both missed time on the Bruins&#8217; California road trip, will still be out for Wednesday against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>. When approached for comments, coach <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/cassibr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bruce Cassidy<\/a><\/strong> spoke about a possible return for <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/spoonry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Spooner<\/a><\/strong>, as well as the controversial topic of goaltenders.<\/p>\n<h1>David Backes Returns Early<\/h1>\n<p>Backes, who missed 14 of the Bruins&#8217; 19 games this season with complications from diverticulitis, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2017\/11\/01\/david-backes-out-8-weeks\/\" target=\"_self\">had colon surgery on November 2nd<\/a>. His prognosis was originally for eight weeks, but the 33-year-old was able to return to the ice in a limited capacity after only two and a half weeks. Backes praised the team&#8217;s performance on the recent road trip, and was glad to be back with them. Doctors advised him that as long as he was not in pain, he could return to skating. He can slowly increase his physical activity as he is able. Former Vezina winner <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasktu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tuukka Rask<\/a> <\/strong>has faced adversity in net this season, often playing behind an injured team, and his statistics have suffered. He currently has a record of 3-7-2 despite a fairly average performance. Backup goalie <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/khudoan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anton Khudobin<\/a><\/strong> has fared better this season, currently undefeated in regulation.\u00a0Coach Cassidy, when asked about the performances of both, commented that the team will continue to ride Khudobin&#8217;s streak.
