The Habs have been without\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/priceca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carey Price<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0since their loss to Minnesota on November 2. Adding to their woes, on Saturday, the Canadiens announced that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/montoal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Al Montoya<\/a><\/strong> suffered a concussion and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/canadiens\/news\/al-montoya---concussion\/c-292892486\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is out indefinitely<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Montreal Canadiens News November 13: Habs Winning Despite Injuries<\/h2>\n<h2>Scores and News<\/h2>\n<p>The Canadiens started a six-game, two week\u00a0home stand on Tuesday\u00a0against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/knights\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/a>. The Habs skated well. After allowing two early\u00a0goals, goaltender <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lagacma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maxime Lagace<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>finished\u00a0a strong game. Vegas came back and nearly tied it. Thankfully,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lindgch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie Lindgren<\/a> <\/strong>played an amazing game\u00a0and stood on his head in the third period. He held on for his first win at the Bell Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Habs had bad puck luck and two goals disallowed against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/wild\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> on Thursday night. They still took 41 shots and had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/overturned-goals-add-unneeded-level-adversity-canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the lion\u2019s share of<\/a> the scoring chances. They were undone by a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zuckeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jason Zucker<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0hat trick. Indeed, their 3-0 loss was a disappointing end to an otherwise decent effort.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the Habs beat\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eicheja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Eichel<\/a><\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sabres\/?doing_wp_cron=1509972280.5303649902343750000000\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a> on Saturday night. They won 2-1. They won, this time, in overtime. Captain <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pacioma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Pacioretty<\/a><\/strong> scored his career 10th <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/hockey-nhl-mtl-buf-writethru\/paciorettys-record-ot-goal-lifts-canadiens-past-sabres-idUSMTZEDBCABXGJO\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regular-season overtime goal<\/a>. The goal moved him past Habs greats <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/joliaau01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aurele Joliat<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/morenho01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Howie Morenz<\/a><\/strong>. He has the most overtime goals of any Montreal Canadien player, ever.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pacioretty scores smooth OT winner against Sabres\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a7QHFMa6tAw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Commentary<\/h2>\n<h3>Goaltending Woes<\/h3>\n<p>In a week of injuries, the mystery of <a href=\"http:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/sports\/hockey\/nhl\/hockey-inside-out\/what-the-puck-canadiens-crease-crisis-as-carey-price-mystery-deepens\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Price&#8217;s injury stood out.<\/a>\u00a0The Canadiens are on record as stating the injury is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/sports\/hockey\/nhl\/montreal-canadiens-carey-price-lower-body-injury-1.4391423\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not related to a previous knee injury<\/a>. It comes at an odd time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;At the time of writing, the situation surrounding Price\u2019s \u201cminor lower-body injury\u201d was still wrapped in mystery. The last game Price played was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/sports\/hockey\/nhl\/montreal-canadiens\/another-slow-start-dooms-canadiens-chances-in-minnesota\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">against the Wild in Minnesota on Nov. 2\u00a0<\/a>and the Habs\u2019 all-world goalie was quite simply terrible that night, one of many nights this season that he\u2019s looked like one of the worst goalies in the league.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As LWOH&#8217;s own Nick Lariviere points out, the Habs goaltender has been <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/11\/03\/montreal-canadiens-goaltending-among-league-worst\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">among the worst in the league<\/a>. But for the recent\u00a0inspired play of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lindgch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlie Lindgren<\/a><\/strong>, the Canadiens have been built based on an assumption of elite goaltending.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;If the Habs can\u2019t depend on elite goaltending, it complicates the entire basis for the team as currently constructed. If and when scoring dips, good goaltending will be the difference between sneaking into the playoffs or being a candidate\u00a0to do well in the draft lottery next year.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Galchenyuk in Focus<\/h3>\n<p>At the Last Word on Sports, three writers delved into <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/galchal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Galchenyuk<\/a><\/strong>, his play, and the likelihood he will be traded. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/11\/06\/montrea-canadiens-alex-galchenyuks-improved-play\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Diemeke points out<\/a> that\u00a0 Galchenyuk\u2019s inspired play and the Habs need for him to produce means he will likely receive more ice time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;Galchenyuk has made the improvements in his game to merit more ice time. Now is time for the organization to reward him. More ice time equals more confidence, more confidence equals more opportunities and more scoring. More scoring equals more wins, and that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about.\u00a0 This weekend was a good start.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last Word on Habs pod hosts, Connor Lapalme and Johannes Wheeldon hashed out Galchenyuk&#8217;s place within the Habs organization. Connor focused on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/11\/07\/why-the-habs-shouldnt-trade-alex-galchenyuk\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">value of keeping Galchenyuk<\/a>, his offensive upside, and the potential <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/juliecl01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Claude Julien<\/a><\/strong> could work his magic to help develop him into the sort of player <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bergema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc Bergevin<\/a> <\/strong>wants.<\/p>\n<p>Johannes argued that Galchenyuk is<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/11\/08\/montreal-canadiens-will-trade-galchenyuk\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> likely to be traded<\/a>. Whatever his on-ice defensive lapse or off-ice\u00a0challenges, he is the only player with trade value. With a team with holes at center and defense, someone has to go.<\/p>\n<h3>Twitter Takes<\/h3>\n<p>Omar White, summarized some fan hot twitter takes in a multi-page post for the <a href=\"https:\/\/awinninghabit.com\/2017\/11\/11\/montreal-canadiens-listened-twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">folks at Fansided<\/a>. Some think the <a href=\"https:\/\/awinninghabit.com\/2017\/11\/11\/montreal-canadiens-listened-twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Habs should trade<\/a> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/priceca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carey Price<\/a>; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/awinninghabit.com\/2017\/11\/11\/montreal-canadiens-listened-twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Others think the Habs should fire<\/a><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bergema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc Bergevin<\/a><\/strong>. Habs Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/awinninghabit.com\/2017\/11\/11\/montreal-canadiens-listened-twitter\/4\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">believes the organization<\/a> should not give up on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/galchal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Galchenyuk<\/a><\/strong> at center. Despite being a knowledgeable\u00a0fan base, fans in Montreal are not above veering\u00a0into the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/awinninghabit.com\/2017\/11\/11\/montreal-canadiens-listened-twitter\/5\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">irrational from time to time.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Habs and the Paradise Papers<\/h3>\n<p>The Canadiens\u00a0are among\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/business\/paradise-papers-canada-connection-1.4386126\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3,300 Canadian organizations<\/a>\u00a0to be named in a massive leak of records from offshore law firm Appleby. The leak, known as the Paradise Papers, lists companies that may have benefited from offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda designed to avoid paying domestic taxes. The organization issued a statement to CBC&#8217;s Valerie Ouellet, saying that its accounts were &#8220;in full compliance with the existing Canadian tax legislation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Predictions and Previews<\/h2>\n<p>After going 2-7-1 in the opening 10 games of the campaign, <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalpost.com\/sports\/hockey\/nhl\/max-pacioretty-scores-in-overtime-canadiens-edge-sabres-2-1\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Canadiens are<\/a> on a 6-2-0 run and now sit one game under .500 at 8-9-1. Next week marks American Thanksgiving. It is a time with major ramifications for the NHL playoffs.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/manitoba\/tough-slogging-ahead-as-jets-take-flight-for-road-trip-1.3334786\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">As CBC put it<\/a>, conventional wisdom says American Thanksgiving is \u201ca mark on the calendar where essentially the playoffs are decided.\u201d The Associated Press published<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/sports\/hockey\/us-thanksgiving-provides-an-early-glimpse-of-stanley-cup-contenders\/article21817710\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0a report last year<\/a>\u00a0showing that between 2005-2015 teams in a playoff spot entering the holiday have gone on to make the Stanley Cup postseason 77.3 percent of the time.<\/p>\n<h3>Previews<\/h3>\n<p>The Habs need to keep winning this month to have a shot at a playoff berth.
