Injuries and &#8220;day-to-day&#8221; statuses have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/cassibr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bruce Cassidy<\/a> constantly looking to fill holes in the lineup and move guys around.<\/p>\n<p>The latest injury news out of Boston pertains to forward <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/backeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Backes<\/a><\/strong>, who appears will miss another two months.\u00a0 The Bruins posted the news on their website and twitter account.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Bruins issue update on David Backes: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wGfC9RyB8N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/wGfC9RyB8N<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHLBruins\/status\/925739068444594176?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">November 1, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>David Backes to have surgery, out 8 more weeks<\/h2>\n<p>Right after the start of the season, Backes was diagnosed with\u00a0diverticulitis and missed a few games. He was recently cleared to play while awaiting more information about his health. It was announced today that he will undergo surgery on Thursday to remove a portion of his colon. The recovery time is listed at approximately eight weeks. It was determined by the team doctors that Backes&#8217; reoccurring episodes posed too high of a risk to wait for the end of the season to have the surgery. Obviously, the immediate concern is on his overall long-term health and a successful and speedy recovery.<\/p>\n<p>However, this is yet another long-term injury to add on to the already somewhat depleted Bruins lineup. Defenseman <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcquaad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adam McQuaid<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is still out and is not expected to be back until sometime in December. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/spoonry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Spooner<\/a><\/strong> is still out with a groin injury and hopefully coming back by the end of this month. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/acciano01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Noel Acciari<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is listed as day-to-day. He has also been out with a hand injury.
