The Toronto Maple Leafs are now five games into the 2017-18 season, sitting comfortably atop the standings early on with a 4-1 record. <\/span><\/p>\n

The fast start for this Maple Leafs team was to be expected. Last season\u2019s top-nine forwards have largely remained intact, save for the addition of Patrick Marleau<\/a><\/strong>. This dropped rookie standout Connor Brown<\/a><\/strong> onto the fourth line. The team has shown explosive scoring power, netting 26 goals through the first five games of the season. While goaltender Frederik Andersen<\/a><\/strong> has struggled out of the gate, Leafs Nation is no stranger to the fluctuations in his game.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is, however, one situation that remains unclear for this otherwise steady team. The role of the fourth-line centre remains in flux.\u00a0Eric Fehr<\/a><\/strong> and Dominic Moore<\/a><\/strong> have alternated games through the first two weeks of the season. The competition for the position has brought out strong performances from both veterans.<\/span><\/p>\n
